Hi,

I've been using VV n330 for most of my 40s&w and 9mm loads, but I'm looking for something a bit cheaper that is similar. Something that meters well and isn't super dirty or super flashy. What do you recommend?

Thanks,

Alan

I switched to WSF for my 9mm and it's a great powder. It meters extremly well, and it's as clean as anything I've used. I think it's good for .40 too, maybe someone else could chime in on that.

My 9mm powder of choice is Titegroup, and my .40 powder is Unique.

Titegroup meters real well, and Unique does great in my pro auto disk measure.

I like Tightgroup in 9mm

The only powder I have bought is a pound of W-231, it has worked well for light target loads in .38Spl, and seems to work exceptionally well for my 9MM loads so far.

Silhouette, it's improved WSF.

I like Silhouette or WSF in 9MM as well. In the VV powders, I love 3N37 and N330 too but not only is it expensive, N330 is becoming increasingly hard to find.

Hi,

I guess WSF is what to try! I was looking at powdervalley and I noticed they don't even list n330.

Thanks everyone,

Alan

If you're going to order from powdervalley try to order as close to 48 pounds as you can(if you can afford), to maximize the $20 hazmat fee. No sense of ordering 2lbs and paying the $20. I recently ordered 46lbs so the $20 shipping + $20 hazmat didn't hurt as much. just my .02

As crappy as WWB 9mm ammo has been for me, I'm a bit leery of trying WSF powder. Is that a fear I can let go of?

WSF is good stuff. I lke both Silhouette, the old WAP and WSF. Silhouette will make major, I haven't tried it with WSF, yet.

Just for the record, most all powders are made by St. Marks Powder or imported, and then they're labeled under the brand, Win, IMR, Hodgdon, etc.

A couple years back I got tired of having several different kinds of powder for my pistol calibers. I finished em all up and settled on one type for my 9mm 40sw 45acp Titegroup and I aint turning back:)

I been using U-Clays in 9mm and 40 with satisfying results. Seems a bit dirty though. I'll be trying WSF in a bit...

I have had good success with Alliant's PROMO powder. It's a bulk powder that you have to buy in 8 pound kegs, but that is okay. Its only C$95.00. That's like C$14.00 bucks a pound.
Believe it or not, when I am finished using PROMO for 9mm, I leave the powder set up alone and use the same in 40S&W.

I'm just getting started with WSF in .40 and I can say the stuff meters perfectly on point every time. Slick recommended WSF to me & my own research confirmed his suggestion. I'll report back on Monday or Tuesday after I've tried my first loads!!

I would be happy using Unique or WSF for all of my service pistol rounds except the 357sig. For max. loads you still need something abit slower.

A lot of em are actually made by ADI out of Australia too.

Here's a cool link to get a general idea of relative burning rate (<----FYI general reference only not for substituting powders)

Thanks, 'Slick, couldn't remember the name of the folks overseas.

Varget is made by ADI and imported, works well. I might actually try some in the M1 this year. I've always ran IMR 4895 or 4064.
