Does anyone really care after something like that happens? What are they going to do, fire him for not being a victim?

Gotta love the timing with the CCW reform laws trying to make it into the state senate.

Have you contacted your senator?

Not familiar with that one. I found out long ago that watching local news just pisses me off. The only reason I heard about this one was that my wife came home talking about it tonight.

I can't find the story, but this is it in a nutshell:

A guy robbed a Dominos pizza delivery guy, pizza guy pulled a gun and killed the robber, guy quits because Dominos was going to fire the delivery guy for carrying a weapon because of a "non-defense policy."

Looks like I won't be ordering dominos anymore. Hope that pizza hut doesn't do the same.

ETA- guy should have let them fire him and take it to court-even if he woulda lost..

Papa John's is better anyways. I hate to admit this, but Casey's has the best pizza in town.

If you can live with Caseys more power to ya.

If you are still up in Ames you should be eating at Great Plains.

I don't live in Ames; I commute everyday. Where's Great Plains at?

yammerschooner
03-28-2008, 09:54 PM
Crap! You have to go to Great Plains Pizza. Other than the Welch Ave Pub of the early 90s, it is the only establishment I miss from up there.

Be aware, one or two pieces will be enough, and the crust dipped in honey is as good as the pizza part of the pizza.

It is in downtown Ames, on Main.

If you like to play pool while kicking back a few cold ones you should probably hit corner pocket while you are in the vicinity -if it is still there.

Sorry to hear about the commute. My wife did that for her college career, which ended about five years ago (she went back for MIS)

The commute gets old. I did it for a semester before figuring out it was better to commute from ames to ankeny for work and give up being a southsider.

ISUSteve

I'll have to check it out. The commute is not too bad. I listen to Mancow in the morning and whatever conservative talk show is on on the way back. Keeps the ride entertaining on the drive up and frustrating on the drive back, I blame the liberals.

It was hard to give up my east sider card. I'm really not a west sider at all. My wife hates Ames with a passion,I have no idea why. Getting her up there for pizza might be a challenge, but I'll make her go. By make her go, I mean beg.

Every EXLINES pizza sold in Memphis is like that. It's truly great if you're hankering for meat.

It feels like you're eating 1,000 calories per slice.

That much pizza can get old.

HEY, WE GOT NEW SMILEYS!:chicken:

The delivery guy has been suspended because you can't carry a gun according to Pizza Hut.

Are pizza huts franchised? If so, the owner of the franchise should tell corporate to go to hell.

The "pizza man" is a perfect example of the 2nd Amendment, and the everyday pressures of the workin' man just trying to get paid.

We'll probably hear later on that Pizza Hut fires him because he was toting on the job or some other nonsense like that.

layusn1
03-29-2008, 08:40 AM
See, I think makin the news like that it would be a lot harder for them to fire him because of fear of public backlash. The public probably doesn't like the thought that their pizza dude might carry but they would have been pissed off if the poor pizza kid, just tryin to make some money and makin his way through college got shot and killed...but then again...that would have helped the gun haters..the coin flipped in the air on this one and landed in our favor...I think.

Godfather's Pizza, now that is a name I haven't heard of in a long time.

Back home in Knoxville a pizza guy had two youths come to his gun with a car so as he was reaching for his money bag he pulled out a pistol and shot one of them grazing the side of their head and the other one bailed. He was fired pretty much immediately for having a weapon at work and nothing more ever happened of it. If I was delivering pizzas I would carry and just understand that my life is worth more than the job I might lose if I was caught carrying.

Many of the locals have taken it upon themselves to write pizza hut. With it being a national chain, maybe some others would take the time to send them some comments. To do this do the following:

www.pizzahut.com (http://www.pizzahut.com)
"contact us" at bottom of page (continue)
"I had an unsatisfactory experience" from the drop down tab (continue)
Check "restaurant" and "United States" (continue)
Check "policy" and "other" in the drop down lists.

The zip code of the store is 50320.

Here's a link to a more detailed story in the local paper.

Pizza Hut or any other national chain won't lose enough money in a city over an incident like this to change policy. I would bet that the only employees who get fired for carrying are those that have to use their weapon. I bet its a don't carry "wink, wink" policy. Once someone uses the weapon they can deny liability. If they allow weapons to be carried too many idiots might carry.

How many of these pizza delivery guys have a license or permit to carry?

This is something my father brought up, if they drive their own cars, aren't they indepentent contractors? How does being a pizza delivery guy work?

Reverse that?

There is still a Godfathers here in San Antonio, on Lackland. I think there is one at Brooks too. I think I saw one either in the Seattle or Minneapolis airport too.

I know Freak carried when he was doing the delivery thing.

We know that 918v carries when he delivers pizza.

Is that in Dave Ramsey's book?

Carrying vs. legally carrying are 2 different things.

No.

I was referencing legal carry. It's cheap to get a LTCH in IN, I bet a lot these guys pack.

I am licensed to carry a concealed pistol.

The Glock 30 and I have to go to work now.

The GP100 is always in the truck.
