Hi,

I recall a thread not long ago where people were talking about how hard they inspect calibers, for example you could be a bit more care free when inspecting 9mm cases compared to 40s&w cases because 9mm brass is strong comparatively speaking for the average load put into each. What I'm asking is to say if you picked up x caliber of brass on the ground and planned to load an under max load from a published book, which ones would you inspect to a greater degree than others. Obviously we should always look over every piece of brass we load, but this list would be a nice guideline to help someone decide which calibers to spend more time on.

1=minimal inspection
2=less than average inspection
3=average inspection
4=heavy inspection
5=maximum inspection

I do recall a thread on the "other forum", but I never could find it, probably lost in one of the many crashes...

I'm also including the reason why I rated each caliber the way I did.

I'm just guessing here so feel free to correct me...

I'll start out which what I can remember:

9mm --> 1 (strong case, minimal inspection)
10mm --> 4 (strong case, but if re/handloaded people tend to push the limits with this caliber, heavy inspection)
40s&w --> 5 (many book loads are already on the edge, maximum inspection)
45acp -->= 1 (low pressure, minimal inspection)

Thanks,

Alan
