View Full Version : Work Schedule Sucks!!!

Because of my work schedule I can only shoot one IDPA match per month.

This sucks, for a couple reasons, but the biggest one is that I'd like to do decent at the next qualifier (local club will be shooting one sometime this spring) and I've never shot one. I'm not expecting to get a high qualification, truth be known, I'd be happy with qualifying in general.

I've been working on moving while shooting, and quicker target aquisition, but I wish I could get a few more matches under my belt and more often before the next qualifier. (which I'll probably have to take a vacation day in order to shoot it!)

Dry firing is your friend. You can practice in the comfort of your home. As always, make sure your gun is empty, and there in NO ammo nearby.

Practice drawing and sight acquisitions. Just pick out a few "targets" and watch how your sights move when you pull the trigger. Remember, you don't want speed so much as you want to be smooth.

Don't need to worry too much about moving and shooting in the classifier. The shots taken on the move are relatively close. Take baby steps and you'll do fine. You might practice at home walking with an empty gun and keep your sights lined up on a specific spot on a wall.

IF you can get to a range to practice, spend most of your time on 20 yard shots. Stage 3 of the classifier is what eats most people's lunch.

Have fun!

If you lived nearby, I'd run a classifier for ya.

No need to wait on a club level match.

Do you know any Safety Officers that would be willing to run one for you?

If I miss the club's classifier, I'm going to see if one of the SOs will hook me up.

If I was in the NC area I'd sure look you up Bogey.

Work really interferes with my shooting too.

I got to get my priorities straight!

I'll run one for ya. Shag your ass on over to Monanuh.

I'll shoot it with you, so I can continue my unbroken string of 102s.
