I want to paint a few things to match my dillon press.

I was looking to buy a rattle can but I am not sure which brand or color.

I was hoping someone might have a suggestion.

Overpriced blue. Look into red, its cheaper.

Mogollon once told us they use FORD blue.

Little Boy Blue. Seriously, take a picture into a paint store and have them match it.

Now that is a good idea.

Thanks

Instead of taking a picture, I'd take a small Dillon Blue part if possible for the color matching. This avoids any problems caused by the picture being slightly off.

If they match by computer, it will be a little off anyway. If they match by eye and mix by hand, they will be able to get it exactly how you want it. If you can get to a Sherwin WIlliams,Pittsbutgh Paints, or any other paint store, you will be able to get what you want.

Most of the box stores will just let the computer match it, shoot the pigment into the paint, shake it, and send you out the door. Go to a real paint store and have them dry a sample on an index card so you can compare it to the DIllon Blue. Some of the computer programs match paint by the wet color, which can dry to a slightly different color.

I used to work for a small paint company in Michigan and we matched everything by hand. We would get it close with one of our formulas and then get it exact by putting a few drops in at a time. It was a real pain in the ass, but you could not get any closer to the real color.

We use Old Ford Engine blue for touchup work. Now on occasion the folks that do the powdercaoting leave pieces in the oven too long, and get takes on a green\turquoise hue. Should be able to get the paint in any chain auto parts store.:patriot:

Even if you powdercoat your Lee Dillon blue, it will still be a Lee

Just pick the blue that looks right to ya. Lots of medium blues that blend in just fine with the Dillon stuff.

A true Dillon fan knows the color when they see it
