Any of you had any experience with the low end scopes out there nowadays ?

I know, with glass, you get what you pay for, but I'm seeing a lot of brands I've never seen before and I do believe some of the high price on commonly recognized name brand scopes is due in part to advertising overhead. Full page gun rag ads and tv spots don't come cheap.

I've been hustling up some search info and ran across all kinds of scopes I've never heard of.

They all read like they are a veritable oracle. Lotta on paper specs look fantastic, but, I'm pretty sure you aren't going to get incredible quality without word getting around the boards. I'm also sure making a scope with every conceivable claim to fame ain't gonna happen for $49, but I haven't bought a scope in ages and there might be some new stuff out there worth looking at.

Any of you ever worked with any of these Barska, Sightmark, Seals, NcStar, Nikko Sterling, Osprey ?

:dunno: Don't know anything about them personally Slick, except the fact that a lot of po folks down here love the NcStar gear. Word of mouth and visual gun show sales are all that I base that statement on.

I have an NcStar scope 3-9x32 and I'm not impressed with it at all. It's impossible to get it clear at the highest setting.

Most all those companies listed make a red dot of some sort. Honestly it doesn't take much to make one, so that doesn't say a whole lot.

There was a guy at the range that had an "American Optics" scope or something like that. It wasn't a U.S. Optics but rather an inexpensive knock off and it was quite nice.

It might have even been an Osprey International scope...I'm not sure. If I could get a clear picture of one on the web I'd be able to tell you.

Just FYI, alot of people were talking about them here:
