Not proclaiming to be a CRB, so I'm not looking at replies telling me to sew some of my neighbors panties together that I dug out of her trash.
Seriously though, I have a universal workshop that I do metal working, woodworking/sawing, and of course reloading on the trusty 550B. Just trying to keep the sawdust, metal flakes, and other debris off the 550. I have never seen the factory cover, but it doesn't look like it would work with the strong mount/bullet tray/empty case tray, etc. If it will work with my setup, how much does it cover? I'm really only trying to protect the shellplate and other moving parts. Any photos would also be greatly appreciated.
Happy loading,
Shovel

Hi,
I don't have a photo, but the Dillon cover will cover the 550 and the roller handle on a strong mount. I think it does a good job of keeping stuff off the shellplate area. I don't think it will fit the bullet tray mounted to a strong mount AND the roller handle though. I'll take a couple pictures later tonight and show you what it can cover.
Good luck,
Alan

Maybe I could sew some panties on a WalMart duffle bag and have the best cover on the East Coast. I bet that's what BigSlick has.
I really don't care about covering the trays, but want the Factory Dillon cover to fit the press well with the strong mount and trays if that's the way I decide. Is there a hole in the top for the plastic primer indicator to go through or can't I cover it with 100 primers loaded?
Thanks,
Shovel

BigSlick,
I think I would only need one pair of panties to fit all three bins, strong mount, and press from looking at those pictures. I need to live next to one of those hot ladies.

Hi,
I do agree with Slick, a duffle bag might even have better coverage and be would certainly be cheaper.

Maybe I could paint that Wal-Mart duffle bag with Dillon Blue. Home Depot could computer match some DuPont for me and I could spray it down to match the press. My local Wal-Mart only carries Red draw string laundry/duffle bags. :yikes: Couldn't have that in my reloading area.

Alank2,
Really appreciate the great pictures. It looks like the cover fits well with the strong mount. It would just not cover the trays (which I'm not worried about anyway)
May just check out Wal-mart this weekend. I'm sure they carry colors other than red.

A BKK hoods works right nice lessen' you got a little pointy head. Most of the ones we been sendin' out been big enough for a 1050 or a big jughead wid a Roman nose though. Wid it on yo' press, you know right where it is in case of a General Emergency call. Ain't many ladies go away unimpressed with a uniform wearin' man either.

I let my 550s go nekkid in their downtime. So far no problems.

I also own a nekkid 550. But it's indoors. If it was in a dusty garage I might cover it with sumptin.

Glad custom-made the cover for my 650; even has handy drawstring.

That's exactly what I'm using for right now, but the Dillon blue paint keeps rubbing off the trashbag.

Went to Wal-Mart today and didn't see anything that I though would work better than my plastic trash bag. I did buy a nice blue nylon laundry bag 23" X 22" fully expanded with a draw string on the bottom. It would work great for the Dillon Beam scale or tool heads with powder measurers. I'm currently using one of my old t-shirts to cover the scale.

jumbo pillow case
(But you'll need to explain to your press that you're not going to march it out back and shoot it)
or what i did before i got a dillon cover for christmas a while back:
gift wrap the right sized box with plastic - the clear heavy duty contractors stuff- and leave one end open. Slide box out, trim to fit.
