View Full Version : Does This Look Like a Squib to You?

When he pulls the trigger the first time, it clicks, then the next round won't chamber. I'm thinking the bolt wasn't closed all the way so he couldn't pull the trigger on that round, and when he dropped the mag/ejected that round, he hammered the next round in, seating the bullet deeper in the case. That's just how it looks to me.

I guess this is about the most appropriate forum, even though it was probably bad factory ammo that caused the kaboom. :sifone:

He drops an F-bomb at the end of the video, but I think he was a little rattled.

Yeah I saw that vid a while ago, and it's hard to tell. I would guess a squib, but usually squibs you hear the primer or very low charged case detonate. My cousin had a squib and I heard it from the next lane at the range. Just sounded funny, turned out it was just a primer. Bullet was stuck halfway down the barrel of my G26(his reloads).

The magazine looks like it exploded out of that rifle. Possible overcharged ruptured case?

i am wondering about the possibilities of a round being too long......sticking the bullet in the barrell. then using the FA finally got a fresh round to chamber and lock up(while seating that rounds bullet back a bunch)......

i guess i am not a huge fan of the forward assist. i also do not, nor do i want to anytime in the future, shoot on a 2 way range.

I think the overall opinion of that guy the last time this was posted is that he is a tool. To have that many misfires and jammed rounds and still insist on sending em downrange without EVER looking down the barrel is just crazy. That video pretty much sums up my feelings on ARs.

I'm sure glad AR's have the bolt forward assist, so you can jam that bad round into battery!

Heck yeah! Previous squib lodged a round in the rifling, new round won't chamber so ya jack the forward assist and simultaneously lodge the first round deeper in the barrel and set back the last round. Good times for sure!

"Here you go pal, you've always wanted to fire an AR, it's loaded, just turn the safety off and pull the trigger while I stand over here behind this wall"

yeah common sense would say having to jam your ammo into place before pulling the trigger is not the correct choice....
