Been thinking of getting some Night Sights for my XD Compact.

Dunno a lot about Night Sights so I've been looking at these....

Meprolight Tru-Dot Sight Tritium Green Front Orange Rear
http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=966828

Trijicon Night Sight Blue Tritium
http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=706090

TRUGLO TFO Sight Tritium/Fiber Optic Green Front Yellow Rear
http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=412395

Williams Fire Sight Fiber Optic Green
http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=867825

XS 24/7 Express Sight Tritium
http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=998959

I kinda leaning towards the Meprolight Tru-Dots with the orange rear & green up front.

I have a Streamlight TRL-3 Light mounted on the XD if that matters....

Comments, Suggestions, Night Sight Experts please chime in......

Thnx,

Of the two automatics I carry, the G17 has Trijicons green/green and the 220 has SIGlites OEM Trijicon green/green. No complaints with either. Check Brownells they probably have a better discount than Midway.

Mepros a little bigger dots than Trijicon, easier to see in daylight. Trijicons seem to last the longest without going dim to the point they are useless as night sights.

I like the new TruGlo sights, a lot. Great bang for ya buck.

You will prolly do OK with any of em, just gotta watch which ones are steel rather than plastic.

I didin't think I would like a multi color setup, but, I do. I got orange front, yellow rear on an old Commander. I ended up with the sights in a trade. The original three dot std sights had popped the dots out years ago and I got tired of hasslin with paintin the dots in after a good cleaning. The one I got in a trade fit, so I put em on, just ta have somethin and put em ta use.

They real nice. Green works, but yellow allows for excellent acquisition without the glare that some greens give off. Orange front is da bomb.

I would shop around. Lotta deals out there on sights. Maybe hit a show and find some an have em installed on da spot. Beats payin shippin an hasslin with install.

I have the XS sights on my G27. That big front dot shows up good; the shallow-V notch rear is fast, but not as easy to see windage error as with a 3-dot setup.

Actually they are cheaper ($10) & the shipping is at least $6 less at MidwayUSA compares to Brownells w/ my discount.

I got my TLR-3 from MidwayUSA eventhough Brownells was a tad bit cheaper cause Brownells wanted $11 to ship it compared to MidwayUSA's shipping which was only $4 & it got to me in 3 days.

So the overall cost with shipping was cheaper at MidwayUSA.

The only thing that concerns me about the Trijicons compared to the Metro's is the Metro's actually come made specifically for the XD in 45.

The Trijicons are not "caliber specific" like the Metros....

From what I have read & measured on my XD & my friends 40 Cal XD the XD 45's have a slightly taller rear sight than the 40 & smaller caliber XD's.....

I just want to make sure what I get fits my gun correctly since I'm not that great of a pistol shooter, if u know what I mean.

This statement is what kinda worries me cause my rear sight measures .280" w/o removing it....
"Technical Information

NOTE: These sights are not recommended by Meprolight for the XD45 ACP with certain heigh rear sights. There is an actual sticker on the package that says "Not meant for 45 ACP models". You will need to check your rear sight height. If it is .250", these sights will work for you. If it measures .285", these sights will not work for you."

I would definitely be concerned with that. I know some sight mfrs offer different heights front sight, not sure if I've ever seen a different height rear in a tritium offering.

But, it Mepro makes a different rear than the 40 and such, I would definitely give em a call to find out the specifics.

If I were to strongly consider TruGlo (and I would) I would drive out there and walk the gun in an talk to em. They about 40 miles from da crib, nice folks too. Always willin to try an help.

Seein as how they ain't exactly in your back yard, ya might give em a call an see what they might be able to tell ya about their offerings, more than the website.

No way I wouly use a 'one size fits all' version without knowing the specifics about sight height and why the difference. I bet Springer could tell ya the dope up front an ya shop around until ya talk to someone that tells ya what ya need ta hear.

I guess that is where stupidity comes in. Never thought about callin any of em to verify what I read/need for my XD.

I'm gonna give em each a call tomorrow....

Cause I really want something that works correcly & also is visible in the dark.....

Preciate That!!!!!

I just got some promotion codes from Midway if you plan on ordering before the 17th. $5 to $30 off an order if you don't have them already.
