I roll all my cases. But found a while back that. Wire lube Electricians use for pulling wire through tight places. works great for case lube. The best part A quart of it at Lowes cost about the same as 8 ounces of RCBS case lube.

This sounds like a 2009 CRB of the year award winner.

Check the MSDS sheet for the ingredients and make sure that there aren't any petroleum products in it.

I just checked the bottle. As I said I get it at Lowes. Its ( Ideal Clear Glide ) On the bottle It says Non-Corrosive - Non Toxic . And nothing about being Flammable. And safe to be applied by hand. Used on copper wire plastic coating, or electric it would have to be. Non-Corrosive - Non Toxic, and non flammable. It cleans up easy. How ever I read the RCBS spray lube can I have. Well its toxic to breath the fumes and flammable. If anyone wants to research the wire lube farther. Check out ( ASTM D-1693 )

I'm gonna pick some up today an give it a try ;)

I like cheap, functional, easy to clean up and available

Last I saw of similar stuff was Yellow 77, which worked OK, but was a real mess to deal with.

This stuff is clear and isn't a wax base like Yellow 77.

Lowe's has it for $6.89 for a quart, Homey Depot is over $10 for the same stuff.

I say that definitely qualifies as CRB and having the non-toxic info saves everyone here a step.

Thanks Hornady !!

You can go here and request a free cable lube sample:

http://www.polywater.com/replycard.html

Now that's CRB. :43:

I requested the spray type.

(It may pay to have a legit business to send the sample to)

It works.

You know...the stuff you spray in a pan so that the food dont stick to it.

Cheap, and its there when you run out of your other stuff.

The PolyWater spray cable lube came today.
Kinda reminds you of ArmourAll. Same color and viscosity.

I'll give it a test run in the next day or so.

There is some cable lube that is alcohol based and will dry itself out over time. We use it at the plant to pull fiber optic cable with so it doesnt leave a mess or gunk on the cable.

Does case lube help all that much. I only load for pistols and .223 and have never used case lube with my carbide dies.

You don't need to lube straight wall pistol cases with carbide dies, but you do need to lube bottleneck rifle cases even with Dillon's and others carbide dies.

+1

Even with the carbide dies a shot of lube will get you more life out of your brass.

Hang one piece of brass in .223 and you'll use it from then on ;)

I use lube even with straight wall pistol cases, it makes loading smooth as silk.

Hornady One Shot for small rifle cases and pistol, Imperial wax or lube and a pad for bigger stuff.

The Clear Glide stuff looks to be ideal.

Now, if jtrade can remember the alcohol based lube he uses at work, if it dries out like HOS, that would be something to really consider too. ;)

Be careful using cooking sprays. I tried it once, left the cases for a few days before I got back to them, and they were a gummy mess. You need to clean them off right away, as well as the sizing die (I did anyway!).

Tried the PolyWater spray lube tonight.
http://www.polywater.com/replycard.html

Couldn't get the spray to 'mist', so I sprayed it on my fingertips and applied it 5 cases at a time. Little squirt again, another 5 cases. Did a tray of 50 .223

Sized and deprimed with no effort when they were wet. As I got to the drier ones, they started getting tight. Wet the fingers again, and away we went.

SO . . . . . . . fine for sizing while wet. Definite no pre-lube and wait (or comeback later).

I'll pry the boss to purchase some of the new clear gel lube. We're about out of the 'ole Yellow snot lube. (I don't want that stuff anywhere near my cases)

I have been using lanolin mixed with alcohol, works great, here are a bunch of homemade firearms related products:

Not as convenient as One Shot but much cheaper: tins of boot waterproofer called Mink Oil. Hornady sells a similar product labeled--ready? UNIQUE.

I questioned a young CSR at Hornady about the ingredients in Unique. He told me that the main ingredient was mink fat. True dat.

I use Lee's case lube, I dilute it one tube to a cup of water. I dip the cases using a wire basket french fry cooker. It certainly take more effort to resize than that wonder Imperial sizing wax but it cleans up easily! I've also used Dillon's spray and made my home-made version of the same spray using lanolin and alcohol. The home-made stuff is OK but the problem is you really need absolute alcohol, not the stuff that is 10 percent or more water and that alcohol is about $6.00 a pint!

Paarden me if I'm am bing dence, but using the lanalin/absalute alcahol mix will I, be abel to spray then run the case through the 650 without having to stop and clean them before charging them?

If ya don't use too much lanolin and ya let the alcohol dry a little first, you don't need to clean the cases.

It runs just like Hornady One Shot ;)

The pure alcohol (I use a tub of Unique and a little 99% alcohol from da drug store or a hobby shop) will dry fast, leaving the lanolin on the case. All ya need is just enough to keep it from sticking on ya.

I've used this mix with pistol brass and .223, both with a carbide die, but I wouldn't try it on a belted mag or a BMG case. Those would get redding wax.

I bought a pound of anhydrous lanolin off ebay awhile back (should have bought two)

I did not pay attention to the recommended liquid lanolin as frogspad suggested. The stuff I bought was kind of like vasoline or wheel bearing grease, still works fine just have to heat it initially to dissolve the lanolin and it separates in the lube spray container. You have to shake it before use. I use little pump hair spray type spray bottles scrounged from trash (CRB points?)

One pound will most likely be a lifetime supply for case lube.

I mix it with ISO Heet gas line antifreeze. about 4 parts alcohol to 1 part lanolin.

I bought some of that mink oil stuff to see if it can be mixed with alcohol but have not got around to it yet.

I use it even when sizing with carbide dies just a little spritz on a cookie sheet full of casings lets them just glide through the sizer with little effort.

The ISO-Heet is 99% Isopropyl alcohol and you can get it at any auto parts or Wal Mart.

I heard this lanolin ISO-Heet is just like Dillon spray lube only cheaper.

Lifetime supply... that's kinda like gettin a quart bottle of the Ideal clear lube.

It takes maybe at most ¼ teaspoon to lube a zillion cases, so that $5 quart is gonna last a while.

Definite CRB points for the bottles outta the trash

If ya run into a hippie, now ya can claim you recycle for real

I still use HOS and find it to be one of the best lubes out there. After i get done reloading I always wipe down each piece of ammo with an old rage and rubbing alcohol (very cheap to purchase). As noted above, even with carbide dies when loading 223 you still MUST lube....ok not to with straight wall but any bottle neck it's a must. I also spray the HOS in a baggie and roll the brass around for a minute or so. I have yet to have any problems or issues. ;)

I use the lanolin and alcohol mix for my .223 and 7.62 brass with no problems. Got my .99% Isopropyl alcohol from Safe-way's for 2.49 a pint

I use the pure liquid lanolin I get off the web @http://www.vitaglo.com/7730.html for $4.05 for 4 oz. you can also get it from Sprouts Market if you have one by you. Or any health food store I think.

The cooking sprays are mostly canola oil. Like Frosty says if you let it sit it'll make a gooey mess.

If you are using Isopropyl alcohol you want to make sure it is 99% (anhydrous) and the lanolin also needs to be anhydrous meaning it contains no moisture or the alcohol will combine with the moisture, it will probably still work for what we are using it for.

If you use the iso heat, get the RED bottle not the yellow. Higher % alc. Costs little more. Couldnt find 99% isopro. at drug store.
A little goes long way. I like the zip lok baggie lubin !
Come winter use that lanolin on my chapped hands too !
