This weekend I scored 5 quart sized freezer bags full of once-fired 100% Winchester 9mm brass. ALL have the WCC headstamp. I don't know how many pieces there are but I would guess about 1.3K. 4 of the 5 bags are bulging and the 5th is full. :cheers2:
A reloading friend gave it to me because he doesn't load 9mm. He says came from a US Navy pistol range gathered from the pistol qualification courses and security personnel requlification. I'm planning on using my junk range pickup brass and keeping this stuff on the back burner. :coolgleamA:

That's a score! I've got a friend who told me he has about 3000 9mm cases and he doesn't reload. But he lives 800 miles away. Looks like a road trip this summer.

Have him toss them into a FRB, $9 to your door.

I'll try that. But a visit would be more fun. He lives on a river in the Ozarks and we go back over 35 years. I haven't seen him in at least 25. We just got in touch a few years ago. I heard he was elected the local prosecutor a few years ago. If we got caught doing some of the things we did together ...

Check that WCC brass for a primer crimp. May be a prob unless you have a 650 or another crimp swage method. Takes a big hammer to pound primers into crimped brass.

Havent tried to deprime or reprime and of these yet. I will take a look at that crimp issue later this morning. Thanks for the heads up.

Good news for me. :) Just came in from my shop after depriming 5 pieces. They don't have the military crimp. :sifone:
Do the 9mm Military brass have the crimped in primer pockets sometimes? I knew for rifles, but didn't even think about 9mm.

Yep, they usually have a crimp. Not too long ago I swaged a few thousand of them. If you have the tools, it's not a big deal. Just takes a little time.

You can buy/find WCC brass both ways. Crimped and non.
Just because youi found 5 uncrimped doesn't mean they all are uncrimped. Best of luck.

Also just because you deprimed them doesent mean that their not crimped. The problems with crimped brass come up when you try to put a new primer in :ow:

Handguns rounds do get crimped, since some get run in subguns. The only military brass I've seen that has been uncrimped is .30 Carbine.

You are all right and ANeat hit the nail on the head. Yes, they did deprime fine with no extra effort, but the new primers WILL NOT go in. Upon closer inspection, it looks like there is a very thin "ring" lining the primer pocket. I deprimed the 5 in a hurry before having to go to work.
BUMMER!
I'm going to keep them around, but try to figure out if there is a way to make them work. Maybe a special tool or something.
