View Full Version : Weight Sorting
OK,
I found a bag of 500 I forgot I had, but now I have a dilemma:
Should I sort my lastest batch of 9mm to 54.5 +/- .1 grains or 54.5 +/- .5 grains?
Or maybe I should have three batches: 54. 54.5, and 55 +/- .1 grains?
What should I do?
:cryin:

Quit wasting your time it is just 9mm.

Well, minimally change that last sorting scheme to 54, 54.5, and 55 +/- .25 grains or else you're going to have a real tough time figuring out where to put one that weighs in at something like 54.7!
I have 48 cases weighing 54.4 +/- .1 grains so far.
I think i may just run an experiment where I'll randomly isert a round with a light or heavy case to see if affects group size.
Boy, this is a chore!
Not only do I have to sort out all the cases shorter than .752", but I then have to trim them to .750" (this batch seems a bit longer, hence the longer trim length), then weight sort and finally deburr the flash holes and square the primer pockets. Damn!

A few of the better "accuracy" pistolsmiths have worked out a pretty good combination for accuracy in 9mm. Typical "bullseye" style 1911 build. 9mm barrel with 1 in 32 twist. Same headstamp brass and a quality 115gr bullet will net sub 1" and sometimes sub 1/2" groups @50 yards.
No weighing brass or primers necessary
But I want half-MOA accuracy.

But I want half-MOA accuracy.
Then just start shooting your 9mm out to 50 yards...:cornut:
