No, not that - this one:
http://www.mothers.com/02_products/05100-05101.html
Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish.
I had some Midway chamber check gauges in the garage that started to look not-too-nice. I also bought some used dies on flea-bay that didn't look so pretty.
I had a tub of this laying around the house from polishing up the aluminum on the snow machine.
Well the trick with this stuff is lots of paper towel, when the crud comes off black. Then a final polish with a clean one. Repeat until it is shiny enough for you, and it leaves some kind of protective coating behind.
With the Midway gauges chucked up and spinning, I used a pencil and paper towel to polish the inside machining of the gauges, the outside & turned it around in the chuck to clean the whole thing.
Did the same process to the dies threads and all. It took off the rust staining too.
I do have some Simechrome, don't have Flitz - but the Mother's is cheap enough at the auto parts to give a good cleaning inside and out.
It made the neglected steel look shiny as new, maybe better with the Midway gauges.
I don't claim to know about the "secret" ingredients of this product - but it does not seem to be as abrasive as other polishes.
I'm going to see how the finish, protection and shine holds out - but It seems like a lot of results for a small amount of effort on some neglected steel.
