I have a outlet on my home for NG. If I can find a resonable price NG setup then I don't have to go buy bottles. I am wondering if some of these turkey fryers have a NG conversion in the instructionss I could buy. Or maybe some other ideas. I know you guys are resourceful enough to make it to the moon with $99 and a bus token.

This might be easier said than done. I think the Natural gas uses a different flow rate than propane.
Here's a burner that's made for natural gas.

Finally found this about 1/2 way down the page. Looks like I can just convert a Propane version and find a natural gas regulator.

For $250 it better come with a ton of wheel weights. That sure puts in questions a man's ability to keep his CRB for sure. I say replace the regulator and drill out the orifices.

How much smelting/casting are you planning on doing? It seems it would take a while to recoup the additional costs involved.

No way I am spending big money on a NG setup. But a NG regulator is only $20 and I have lots of drill bits. Doing this outside it doesn't have to burn perfect. My guess is with a little work it would be pretty good.

Exactly. Gas plus oxygen is fire, even if it's not ideal it'll get the job done.

I would first remove the orifice from the propane unit, and try buying a natural gas orifice for it from the place you buy your NG regulator.
If that is not possible, get yourself a set of WIRE GUAGE drill bits and a pin vice to go with it, a booklet with orifice size info, and use a bit two sizes smaller than what is recommended for whatever BTU your unit is rated for. Be sure to use your pin vice to drill the orifice by HAND.

There are a couple threads on this buried somewhere @ castboolits with some decent info. I was considering it but ditched when i figured out I would have to do the drilling AND the fact that I would lose some btu going to natual gas from LP.
I bought another bigger tank and left it at that. The 125k bayou classic I picked up from amazon was something like $30 with no shipping so I was under $100 easily.

You can buy 100lb propane tanks at Menards, Lowes, etc. for less than $100. They do last quite a while. I have one and consider it worth the money. I bought mine about 10 years ago for around $70.

Thats not bad really. They still exist on ebay like that. It would also be portible.

Just stick to LP C4W. You might get smelted instead of the lead.

The Ebay ones are $50 with shipping. Still not bad.

The way my Turkey Fryer roars, I'd be surprised if there was even an orifice in there. Probably just a restricted hole.
That's a lot of fuel/BTU to push through a "pinhole"

That's the same one I use. That will melt lead fast.
