Well I shipped to basic 2 years ago Friday. I went to Fort Sill, Oklahoma. I really don't care for the place...weather is way too crazy. From there I went to AIT at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. This was pretty cool for me since I lived two hours from there anyway. I trained to become a 94A which is short for Land Combat Electronic Missle Repairer. Don't feel too bad, besides where I went to AIT pretty much no one knows what that is. I work on the Bradley Fighting Vehicle System repairing the TOW missle launcher system as well as the ITAS targeting system the gunner uses to aim everything with. Shortly after I got to Fort Stewart, I got chosen to be on the 3rd Infantry Division Honor Guard. I found two pictures, and I'll post more as I find them. http://www.army.mil/-news/2009/11/04/29850-3rd-id-assumes-responsibility-of-mnd-north/ I'm the one holding the white Army flag. I know there are more floating around somewhere of me holding the rifle where you can actually see my face. Anyway, before we left for Iraq in October 09 I was selected to be a member of the 3ID Sargeant Major's PSD team and took one week of amazing 9mm training as well as a week of exciting defensive driving from some very friendly and very professional ex SF guys from http://www.globaloneusa.us/ I learned so much about pistol shooting over that week and it was pretty much when the gun bug bit me. I can't wait to be back home so I can get focus on training to do some local competitions. I'm glad I found this place so I can learn about my new obsession in a friendly and knowledgeable environment.

Wecome.

I was stationed @ Sheppard AFB TX, about 45 min south of Lawton. Crazy weather in Tornado Alley?? It was great. Where else can you have 4" of snow on Christmas and be in the 70s that same afternoon.

Jesse~

Thanks for carrying on the proud tradition of the All Volounteer Army.

Reading your post, I can tell how very proud of yourself you are (and rightfully so)!

I also did my Basic Training at Ft Sill, and later on one of my duty stations was with the 832nd Ordnance Battalion as the Operations NCOIC for A Co 832nd (the EOD MOS training company), Redstone Arsenal. So you and I have some things in common in our military lineage. :)

Go Ordinance! Those EOD guys had it harder than any other MOS there, so I gained a lot more respect for them there. I see you are in Morgan County. I'm from Calhoun County and lived there my entire life up until I joined, so we've got a little more in common it seems.

Jesse,
Its long been my opinion that the military most favors those enlisted members who have strong work ethic's, present a good positive image, score highly on testing and keep their noses clean. All of these move up quickly in rank and recieve a higher level of mentoring as well as assignments. You've started out very well so far and demonstrate your commitment very well. Keep it up, stay safe and hang in there.
