AR barrel extension torque spec

According to Eric the tech at Brownells it's 169 ft-lbs. He also says the pin doesn't go into the barrel to lock the extension in place, the extension is only held in place by torque.

Anyone wanna dispute that? I'm thinking about trying a swap.

I got a 20" barrel which I paid $20 for because some idiot tried to file and weld junk on or to the barrel extension. I need to get the barrel extension off and when I was looking at the barrel extension it sure appeared as though the pin went through the extension and the barrel.

I can go it the barrel to double check....

Well, I know I saw a youtube video of at least one barrel manufacturer who drills & installs the pin only after the barrel extension is torqued down. They specifically said the pin locked the extension to the barrel for their barrels. I forget which company that was now.
