I went shooting with my brother last week and he had a new Kahr 40 S&W. I am not sure which model. It was a blast to shoot and was pretty easy to hit what I was aiming at. I was goingthrough the brass from that session earlier today and the brass that came from his gun was pretty messed up. Every case mouth had a flat dent in it and they also had a nice scratch in the brass in the same area. I have seen brass that has been dented pretty good from certain pistol's ejectors, but this seemed to be excessive. I was just wondering if this is par for the course with Kahr firearms. I really enjoyed shooting it, but with the hell it played on the brass, I would probably never buy one.

Case mouth dings are normally caused by the ejector spinning the mouth into the slide. Heavier recoil spring may help. Scratches may be from a sharp mag lip also. A load change may not ding the brass the same way. And Kahr may not have any consideration for reloaders.

Did his Kahr have evidence of brass on the slide?

I will try to get a picture of a few pieces if I can. I didn't notice any brass on the slide, I will inspect it a bit more next time I shoot it.

A Kahr P45 is my EDCC (very nice DAO trigger) and when I first bought it used but LNIB, I noticed the recoil spring felt a bit weak for such a short pistol, the rounds used to get scratched / gouged and dented up pretty badly upon chambering, but it was just a matter of slightly polishing off a sharp edge on the feed ramp which would almost cut you, also what another poster said is true check the Mag 's lips and everything else for burrs, sharp edges where they do not belong, also check the outside edges of the ejection port for brass case markings, Kahr makes a good compact DAO poly pistol, but nothings perfect and any Co. could let a pistol W flaws through.

Go test it out some more then tear it down and familiarize yourself W it, to see what you think.

Also the smaller the pistol the shorter the service life of the recoil Springs.
