I want to purchase a 9mm for CCW and cannot decide between the G26 and the M&P 9c. Any experience with one or both is appreciated to help me decide.

All things being equal which one is the most comfortable. The first thing I check out is the ergonomics of handling a gun I'm interested in. Personally I would probably get the Glock. But I haven't had any experience with the M & P. I think the M & P has some sort of weird magazine safety or something. I think a guy was shooting one in USPSA and I wasn't too fond of it as a shooter.

Smith has good ergos and great customer service within the limits of the hardware. Glock is more accurate, has a better trigger, and 50 times the aftermarket. I had the M&P 9c and sold it. Kept the Glock 26. Less muzzle flip with the Glock.

My buddy likes the 9c better. I have about 13K through the G26. We'll see how buddy's M&P runs after the same round count.

Web instructions for M&P trigger pull improvement works well but the overtravel is still crappy.

I have no experience with a G26.....yet. I do have some time on a M&P 9C, though. It is comfy to grip, accurate and conceals well. I had zero issues with it.

Tagged, I was wanting to know the same thing, Glock vs M&P in the compact.

Are the M&P's poly rifling ?

I think the M&P's don't use poly, but I could be wrong. I recall reading this somewhere a ways back.

I"m a Glock guy, so I wouldn't be able to do a comparison.

Good luck,

Alan

I lean toward the Glocks myself for a number of reasons. I'm sure the M&P is perfectly capable but I always tend to think of the other "little" things. Glocks are simple and reliable...and, there are a flood of after-market tweaks & add-ons that allows you to customize to no end. My wife has a Laser-Grip equipped G-26 and uses the 10-round OEM magazines for carry and uses G-19 15-rounders with the A&G grip adapters when at the range or for in-car use. The ability to make the gun "fit" your individual needs is a nice touch and few handguns offer the ability to customize to the degree of a Glock. That said, it's all about your personal likes & dislikes...I say buy what you're most comfortable with.

G27 with a conversion 9x19 barrel would be a good option too.

Shoot both calibers for the price of the extra barrel

M&P has standard rifling--cut/hammer forged.

It would be difficult for me to argue against a Glock. For my own use, I don't think a sub-compact pistol works very well due to my hand size--a Glock 19 or 23 is about as small a pistol as I can manage--but that's me.

+1 on the G27. I wish I had gone that way. I have and carry the G26 every day. Good shooter as well.

When I was looking to purchase, I rented a M&P 40 and an XD 40. XD felt better, M&P was more accurate for me. A buddy talked me into the G26 while my Kimber CDP was in the shop. Now that's a good friend!

A friend I used to hunt with toated the glock 9 mil why I have no idea but anyway to the point he stops to take a leak and leaves it on the bumper right, drives off well in south ga its liable to rain at the drop of a hat right. He finally realizes he doesnt have his glock this is mind you two days later. He calls me and we go look for it has been run over and completely covered in GA clay and mudd but we found it anyway. He is wondering how to clean it right I tell him take it appart and put it in the dish washer. He puts it in there and takes it out after its finished alittle dry graphite lube and the gun still works fine. So take that into consideration.

I'll go with the G-26, too; but, it's going to have to be a 3rd generation - No 4th and no SF.
