I'll start with mine.
Inland with an early 1944 s/n and a 4/44 Inland barrel. I got this from the CMP in the first batch of Inlands last year. I felt like I had won the lottery.

Another Inland/GM - 4/43
Mrs. xtm claims this one - the only firearm she will ever grab in an emergency. Both my kids are military and would like to get their hands on it - but they'd have to take it away from their Mom.

I got this 1943 Postal Meter back in 1978 for $74. It's a RRA rebuild (RRA cartouche on stock) with a correct Marlin barrel with a bore in new shape. It came in a wooden box containing 2 carbines, 2 bayonets and scabbards, 10ea 15rd mags, 4 mag pouches, 2 slings, 2 oilers, 2 cleaning kits, and even 2 canvas hoods for the muzzles. In addition, it had a spam can containing ammo bandoliers. In short, it had everything two GIs needed to go into battle.
It looked new so I wondered if it was ever issued (note the high wood stock). Because of it's condition, I didn't shoot it all those years until I took up reloading 6 yrs ago. Then I just said, "What the heck, they are all parts guns anyway." It's great fun and out to 200yds reasonably accurate for a carbine.

I do. I don't cast for it though.
I've been loading 110gn pulls with WC-820 from Hi-Tech.
Bought 1000 new Lake City 72 cases, 2000 of the 110gn and 16lbs of WC-820 back when they were available and cheap.
I should be set for a while...

Really nice one!
What are your best loads?
I'm making a concerted 2nd attempt at finding the perfect cast bullet load for mine. I've had really good results with FMJs and several powders, but want to be able to shoot cheap lead successfully - if possible. Also, I don't want to have to buy vast quantities of surplus powders. The KEAD 115gr. LRN seems to be a good hard bullet for the carbine, and I've been fooling around with IMR-4227, W-296, and 2400.

From top to bottom:
Rockola, 4.5 Mil, late (round) bolt, late (stamped) sights, late (two rivet) handguard, early (milled) trigger guard, Rockola barrel.
Underwood, 2.83 Mil, early (flat) bolt, late (stamped) sights, late (two rivet) handguard, late (stamped) trigger guard, Underwood Barrel, 1-44.
Quality Hardware, 4.80 Mil, early (flat) bolt, early (milled) sights, early (four rivet) handguard, early (milled) trigger guard, Underwood Barrel, 4-44.
Winchester, 1.11 Mil, early (flat) bolt, early (milled) sights, late (two rivet) handguard, early (milled) trigger guard, Winchester barrel.
I also have a 200,000 Inland on my bench right now, being cleaned. My first Carbine.
I've never fed one of these Carbines a factory round. In fact, I've only shot the Inland and the Underwood.
Here's my loads for 30 Carbine:
Surplus LC 110 gr FMJ
LC brass
Rem 6.5
12.5 gr AA 9 (there is a bit of room to work with, however, 30 Carbine powders like 2400 and H110/W296 DO NOT like to be reloaded below 3%, and certainly NOT the usual 10%).
1.680" OAL (this is max OAL, my carbines eat them like no tomorrow)
Surplus LC 110 gr FMJ
LC brass
Rem 6.5
12.5 gr 2400 (there is a bit of room to work with, however, 30 Carbine powders like 2400 and H110/W296 DO NOT like to be reloaded below 3%, and certainly NOT the usual 10%).
1.680" OAL (this is max OAL, my carbines eat them like no tomorrow)
Use small rifle primers for 30 Carbine.
It is important to note for a carbine to function correctly, the brass length must not be greater than 1.290".

MakeMine.... really nice collection!
Gals love to shoot these things - light weight, negligible recoil, and half the muzzle blast of 5.56mm carbines!
The 12.5gr 2400+110FMJ is one of my top loads, too. It shoots a bit low to POA at 100 yds, but is OK at 50-75 yds. and cycles 100%. Do you prefer the AA#9 load over this one?
Have you had any success with any hard lead RNs in the 110-120gr. range?
A little better pic of my Inland/GM. It doesn't have a bayonet lug and has a crossbolt safety and crude two-position rear sight.

Thank you, sir. I don't know if I've ever had a firearm as addictive as a Carbine and the chics love 'em.
Truth be told, most of my Carbine shooting is done within 50 yards, sometimes just a little over. If I do shoot at 100-200 yards, it's generally for a match, and then I use loads designed to duplicate LC ball ammo from the 70s, which is what's being issued.
I don't have a preference for AA 9 over the 2400, I just got a good deal on a bunch of it, so that's what I've been running. I have played with other grain weights of 2400, but I keep coming back to 12.5 grs.
I will say the AA 9 load is running closer to 200 fps hotter than the 2400 load, last I ran them over the chrono in early March (It was a bit cold, I might expect the spread to narrow in the warmer weather).
Wow. A crossbolt safety, that's old school. I'd love to find a crossbolt safety Carbine. Hang on to that one!
ETA: In reference to cast bullets, I got about 100 of them in a trade a while back, moly coated lead, no GC. I sent them to a guy on GT, goes by Lillysdad, first name is Dustin. He was going to test them in a Plainfield carbine he had, and report back. That was 6 months ago, I've yet to here back from him.
If I do start running lead in the Carbine, I'm going to design a custom mould.

Go easy on those lead bullets in a gas operated gun like the carbine. Do you know how hard it is to get the gas pistol out when its frozen in due to lead buildup?
Unfortunately, I do.
Now, for true economical shooting I got some WC-820 from Pat's (8lbs for $80) which is a bit hotter than H110 and use 11.5grns lit by some CCI SR magnum primers under Rainier plated 110grn bullets I got in a group buy 4 years ago. Pretty good accuracy for a carbine and a hoot to shoot too.
ETA: I forgot to add a picture of my carbine.

Here is an Service Grade NPM I got last year from the DCM. I had a great time redoing the stock. It had many deep gouges but a steam cloth fixed them up nicely.

I have an M1 Carbine in a Mannlicher stock. Not my fault, that's how it was when I got it. The riser and cheek piece caused the sighting eye to be high and to the left in relation to the peep sight, so I removed the riser and sanded down the cheek piece.
Background provided, should I post a pic, since it is now an M1 Carbine in name only?

Okay. Please forgive the quality of the pictures. A photographer I am not.
Here's what it looked like to begin with:
http://www.glockpost.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=195&pictureid=1192
http://www.glockpost.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=195&pictureid=1188
I tried to mark a fairly straight line on the side, then cut the top off with a scroll saw:
http://www.glockpost.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=195&pictureid=1190
http://www.glockpost.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=195&pictureid=1189
Sanded the left side down from about 3/4" to about 5/16", and rounded the top to match the buttplate.
http://www.glockpost.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=195&pictureid=1191
Sanded the entire stock to take the high gloss finish off, and restained it. Never touched the handguard, as it appears to be from the original stock, and the stain on it matched perfectly to what I put on.
http://www.glockpost.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=195&pictureid=1193
It had an aftermarket Williams peep sight already added, but didn't come with any magazines. I picked up that 30-rounder and a 5-rounder (for legal hunting purposes) for $10 total from a used magazine box at a local dealer. My dad gave me one of his 15s last summer. It needs a new spring, but the other two cycle just fine.

Greg -
The hand guard is original equipment, and is held in place in the usual manner. The front barrel band was cut and welded closed below the barrel so it still slides back and forth. Then a nut was brazed to the bottom of the barrel band, with the opening pointed down. A bolt inset through the bottom of the stock holds the barrel band in place and locks everything together. There is also a metal end cap that covers the end of the stock that is held in place with a small wood screw, but that is just ornamental. I'll try to get pictures tomorrow and get them up so you can see what I'm talking about.
I think this was a kit someone was selling, for converting M-1 Carbines. Still required the cut and braze for the barrel band.
Looks cool, but the high comb and thick cheek pad throws the aiming eye way off.

Of course it was all beat up. Those are probably the bottom of the barrel guns the CMP still had. Not sure how they got that many though.
And yes, they always wanted way too much for their carbines. Still. If they sold them for the asking price, the old axiom about a fool and his money still holds true.
