What I want to know is how many lead rounds you guys shoot without having to stop and clean out your barrel. I am planning on getting into casting 9mm for my G19, but right now I shoot between 250 and 300 rounds at a time, and I have read that some of you only shoot about 100 before you clean the barrel. Is the correct? What barrel would you recomend if I was going to change to only shooting lead?

I can shoot several hundred and not need a cleaning. I shoot KKM barrels in my G30. I can get you one for $170 shipped, they normally go for $193 shipped from KKM.
I keep a boresnake in my range bag. Sometimes only a pass or two after couple hundred rounds is all. Seems to do the trick.

Thanks Freak. I might take you up on that. Also, I found a local guy that has a casting set-up. If I can't talk him in to selling it cheap, I will probably buy one from you.

Same here. But I only shoot jacketed or plated bullets from my GLOCKs.

If I shoot my carry gun that I'm wearing that day, I'll clean it before I leave as I load up. If it's just a gun I brought along for the trip, I clean it whenever I get around to it. I at least run a bore snake down the barrel 2-3 times if it's going to be a while. I only have two of them, a 40 and 45 cal. I use the 40cal for the 357, 375, and 10mm. The 45 gets its own. The 32 gets a 9mm brush. I'm just a CRB that refuses to buy extra stuff if stuff can be made to work without additional costs.

Ditto. I've put ~300 cast bullets through my LWD barrel before cleaning, could have shot more.

Same here, never had to clean a handgun or rifle at the range I was shooting with cast or swaged bullets. The only revolver I've ever had lead up on me was a 4" S& $ Mdl 57 that I put a box of factory Remington 41 Mag semi wadcutters through. That was a mess to clean when I got home. Wish I'd have kept it to, good shooting revolver.

I've gone 500rds in my G17 w/ LW bbl. w/ no problems. I seldom clean my 1911 between range sessions, easily goes 500rds.
