As ya know i have my uncles Marlin 336RC 30-30.
Well bummer:wallbash:.While cleaning said rifle i noticed two spots inside the barrel that were very easy to push the brush through.
How safe do you guys think this barrel is.I really dont want to put it up for a wall hanger, soo what do you guys recommend??.
If its not safe with modern smokless, what do ya think about using black powder?,for propellment?.Im sure with BP,the pressures would be safe, just dont know about store bought. What say yous,YEA,orNAY?.OR am i worrying to much?.Thanks pan.

Oh man, sorry to hear the barrel is bulged, that really sucks.

Any chance Marlin can provide a replacement barrel ?

I know Wild West Guns used to rechamber and rebarrel a lotta Marlins, they might be able to put you onto a slightly used or new replacement barrel. :dunno:

As far as using black, no idea as I have zero experience with Marlins and BP or substitutes

Call marlin. They have very reasonable rates for their gunsmithing work.

i wouldnt think it would dangerous to shoot like it is. the bulged barrel would not increase pressure. might cause bad accuracy though. i'd see about having the barrel replaced soon as funds allowed though.
