Looking through the Sportsmen's Guide catalog a while back I seen a fair deal on Russian .22 rimfire ammo. I've been sitting on a $10 coupon and free shipping trying to decide what to buy. 3750 rds $79.00 shipped.
Here is it:

My 12 year old is having a blast with his Henry .22 Mini-Bolt.

Mother Russia that's a lot of ammo! Is it pretty clean or does it smoke like a train? That is about the most tacticool mall ninja .22 I have ever seen with it's stealthy black coating. That is a great deal too at only about $11/shipped for 525rd (makes it easy to compare to bulk stuff).

Wolf and SK plus are some of the best shooting stuff I have for .22's. Aren't they from Russia? I wonder if it from the same place, just labeled differently.
Borrow that mini-bolt and shoot a couple 5 shot groups from 25 or 50 yards for me will ya? I need a less expensive match ammo for this year.

I haven't shot any of it my self. My son shoots it, but I hadn't noticed it smoking. It is a bit greasy though.
I'll be out of town the rest of the week, but if the weather is good this weekend, I'll shoot some groups with it and see what happens.
I have been shooting the Russian 22 ammo for years. It is really great stuff, and pretty clean. I would say, out of 10K rounds, I have maybe, maybe had 20-30 not fire.

Wolf 22 rimfire is made in Germany, good stuff.... As for the Russian stuff all you can do is try it. I would try a box or two before commiting to 3700 rounds.
It could be fantastic, it could be prone to jams, misfires or a host of other problems. Shoot a few boxes and see.

Yeah, I had a feeling I was off by a continent or so.. :banghead:
I ran down to check my wolf stash after posting. It is greasy at least!
I am running low on the .22 ammo, less than 10k rounds of decent stuff that is matchworthy..

I just looked at their site and didn't see it. Maybe they are out?
I'll try to find the stock # I ordered it by.

I would be in for a local group buy in upstate NY for a poop load of 22 ammo. I'd want bulk stuff. Wonder if there is any interest?

The Wolf .22 ammo is from (formerly) East Germany. It's the ammo that was used by ALL of the Soviet-Union era Olympic squads......VERY GOOD AMMO, even the cheap stuff. The MATCH EXTRA series will shoot as well as ANY match ammo on the planet.
Haven't had a chance to try the Russian .22 LR yet, but I'd give it a go in my Rem mod 11 bolt gun(nylon), but might be hesitant in a semi-auto.
