Ran across a smoking deal on a Stag 6.8 SPC upper along with bolt and carrier and 220 rounds of factory ammo. got it for less than what the upper normally runs, now I need to start shooting that factory ammo so I can start making my own "funny how that works" so I guess my question is, does any one here shoot the 6.8 SPC, got any tips for me, IE powder and bullets and such. I cant wait to get it out to the range this weekend, as long as my hand is not hurting "broke some things in it" anyways that is all for now

I cant help you out in the Stag platform, but,i have the 6.8 in the Encore.I realy like it.As you know,it takes a .277 pill that has proven itself in the 270 Win.I know that the pills are light for cal.but, with pickin the rite ones it is a very good pick for deer.
Very light recoil, and with a little less than 300 yard hold you can be in the killin zone.Gettin to know where and how it shoot at dif.ranges past that.I believe that you will favor it.Recoil shy ladys, and children like it very much. Not much to add.Let us know how your day gos with yours.Sorry im not much help.pan.

Big Boom, how much you give for that upper? Go ahead and provoke my envy. I've got no knowledge of the 6.8 personally as I never made up my mind to get one.

i got less than 680 into it with 220 rounds of factory remington ammo, new stag bolt and carrier, upper is 16-1/2 with the heavy barrel and free float hand guard,no front site, less than 100 rounds threw the upper. not a bad deal since the uppers alone are 650.00-850.00 :)

took the 6.8 out today, out of the 220 rounds that I got with the upper was one box of 20 Remington 115 FMJ, so I thought that I would use those to start the site in process, well let me say this, the FMJ stuff is crap. try 7 inch at 100 yds crap...... this didnt sit well with me, the rest of the ammo is 115 OTM, I started off with one set of ten shots and slowly brought the groups in, on the second ten round mag It really shined, all said in done ten shots were 2 inch at 100 yds, not bad for factory ammo. I know that the groups will pull in dramatically with hand loads and Im getting ready to gear up for that. as far as the 6.8 SPC round, very manageable recoil, not more than the 223, but it is quite more louder. its is a blast to shoot, I cant think of the last time that I enjoyed shooting my bottom feeders as much. the C Products 20 round "actually 14 round" actually functioned flawlessly !!!!!!!! I was surprised since they are the cheaper of the 6.8 mags. I think that this will be a enjoyable gun to shoot often and will have greater accuracy with hand loads.... all in all Ill give it 2 thumbs up.
