I've been wanting a lever gun for some time. This past winter I found a seller that met me halfway (75 miles each) to sell me this Winchester in .45 Colt..

Nice.
Whose rear sight is that ?
The peep looks kinda like a Skinner, but the base definitely isn't a Skinner

Shot a similar one to that the other day...pretty cool, and hardly any recoil what-so-ever.

I have a couple of Marlin 1894's. Love them, especially the .44 mag. I may be adding one in 45LC. I just need scrap up a few more dollars. The guy also has 2 SS Vaqueros in .45LC. I want the set. Good price too.

The more I look at the pics, the more I like that gun.
Beautiful wood all the way around, clean as a whistle too. My kind of gun, all function, no frilly crap
Good caliber too for about anything I'm likely to do with a lever gun

Nice gun. Never owned one myself, but if'n I did, the 45 Colt would be a nice choice for a fast handling gun.

Man, this thread is killin me.
I made up my mind to just pass on .45 Colt a long time ago, as you can only deal with so many calibers.
Maybe one day when I got more time and money, but damn I am still trying to think of a better lookin lever I've seen and nothing comes to mind.

I had a Willims on my 39a. Goofed up and left it on when I, sent the rifle back to Marlin. Never recived it back when the sent the new rifle to me becuse the destoyed the old one. When I told them about it they sent some plastic pice of garbage that I, throw in the junk box.

Here Slick...now you won't have to get into another caliber!

I really didn't need to see that... :hunter:
Hope some of that redistribution of wealth comes my way soon
Any idea how much for the carbine ?
I think it'd make a fine coyote rig

Yeow !
Beautiful in every respect though.
I'd just love to hole up for a couple of months and work out a couple nice warmish cast loads for the carbine.
I think it would make a nice compliment to the S&W all the way around
Prolly make you cry like a little girl with a 450gr load running just over 2k

Every time I look at GunBlasts I regret doing so. Thanks a ton, Creo--whatta pal YOU are.
PH Rider, THAT is how a lever gun should be set up. In any caliber. I am a levergun enthusiast, with 22 LR, 25-20, 25-35, 250 Savage, 30-30, 32-20, and 44-40 currently in the safe. 33 WCF and two 45-70s are former members of the collection, too. I can't abide a scope sight on a levergun, unless as a temporary tool for load development. After that gets settled, an aperture of some kind gets fit to the back end and I go hunting.
As often as not, I remove the screw-in aperture piece and hunt with the wide-open rear window. Try this at the range, if allowed--lower the rifle to a "low ready" position, 30*-45* down from horizontal. Throw the loaded rifle to your shoulder, cock the hammer and engage the target at 50 yards, finding a fast sight picture with the front sight through the wide aperture. Your eye self-centers the front post naturally--that is why battle rifles use aperture sights so extensively. You'll be surprised how well that fast sight picture forms, and how well your shots place on target.
