Has anyone seen, used, or compared the Giurard, to the Hornady, case trimmer's? I will be buying a trimmer this week, the Giurard is about $100.00, more is it worth it now that the Hornady is out?

I assume you are talking about the Hornady Lock n' Load Power Case Center.
Now this is only my opinion about case trimming and not necessarily anyone elses. The way the Giraud works is the case length is controlled by the 2 angles on the cutter. One for the inside chamfer and one for the outside chamfer. With that type of cutter the angles form a sharp edge around the case mouth. This takes care of the trimming and the chamfering all in one operation and cuts the time consideribly.
It is my preferance though, to trim the case mouth parallel to the head then to chamfer the inside and outside in an other operation eliminating the sharp edge. This does add more handling time, but like I said this is my preferance. So the Hornady trimmer seems more versital and would be my choice.

I went ahead, and bought the Hornady. Instead of the mail order place I, ordered it from a locle shop. It did cost more that way, but the dealer is a friend.

Got a link to the Hornady trimmer ?
I've used a PH and the Giraud, both work well. Never used (or seen) the Hornady

I, luked out when I, stoped at my dealer today, he was able to get it in early. So we went ahead, and checked it out, it seemed preaty solid, everything was as it should be. When I, started to read the direction's there was one thing Hornady forgot to mition. It will only work with Hornady shell holders. So now I, get to wait till, the shell holder set comes in. Yeh.

I have never used the Hornady trimmer, but here is an old video I made off the Giurad trimming .223.

I forgot to say that it trims and chamfers at the same time. You press case down until you do not feel any movement. As you can see from the video, I did a few in 30 seconds.

Does it have a positive stop? Adjustable or is it caliber specific?

All three.
You use different collars with differnt I.D.'s and shoulder dimensions
.308 collar, .223 collar, 30-06 collar etc..
The collars are adjustable for depth (I think) .0015
But, all are set it and forget it. Collars swap out easily and quickly and settings are retained.
One trimmer, caliber sepcific collars, good to go (some combination caliber options exist).
You can trim 1000 pieces of .223 in under an hour, .308 and larger calibers take a little bit longer sometimes, but, not much.
Like Lonnie says, trim, chamfer and deburr in one step.
Run a wad of tumbled brass thru your 650/1050/LNL/whatever case feed and size/decap, a pass on the trimmer, ready to load.
Or, do it like I do, size/decap for a day or two store in a bucket.
No brass shavings all over the place, no hassle setting the depth every cutter/collar change, no hassle with aligning a pilot.
Drop a piece of brass in the hole, press, wait till you don't feel the cutter touching the case mouth and remove... repeat until you run outta brass, electricity or patience.
Easy as pie, no mess, zero hassle and the motor is hella robust. No tinker toy crap involved, quality piece of equipment all the way around.
Worth the bucks if you got regular brass chores to deal with.

You can buy one trimmer in a specific caliber and buy collars/cutters in other calibers, they ran $30 last time I bought any. All will do a 15 degree chamfer to allow for VLD bullets.
Lotta other stuff Doug makes, all top quality. First class to deal with in my experience too ;)

Make no mistake I, really wanted the Gurade, but seeing that I, used the C.C. to buy the trimmer, and the locale dealer was abel to get it at a good, (but higher then the mail order place) price, I went ahead and bought it. As of this morning I, will set it up and give it a good once over. After I, get done looking for the cap for the septic. Note to self next time the back yard is tore up for the bulding the foundation, at lest take a picture of wear the cap is.

Thanks, Slick. That is cool...well, they both are. Trimming is my main source of pain in the reloading process. I hate it, mainly due to substandard equipment. Price is the only thing holding me back....the desire is there at least.:dontgetit:
Dang, just had to look at the vid again. 7 in 30 seconds??!!!??? Takes me an hour to trim 100 like I do it now. Grrr.
