View Full Version : Another Bill Moment
Went to the Range today for the first time in a while .
Took a Norinco 1911 .
I have all my reloaded rounds in baggies and sorted by caliber . (I thought )
Shot the first two rounds and felt like really light loads .
( both fed )
They were 40 s&w rounds .
Got a bag misplaced .
Don't shoot much 40 at all .
Hit the paper though , cases got tore to crap .
Feel like a total idiot .

Your not the first to do that, the idiots are the ones who keep on shooting.

I am suprised the rounds didn't pass through the barrel whithout even exploding the primer.
Then again I don't have a 40mm only 45ACP and 9mm so I don't really know this round.

The extractor probably held the cartridge in place enough to get a good whack on the primer.
I find it pretty cool and pretty scary that the gun cycled.

Range time is far too scarce and precious for me so I tend to buy "a few extra" magazines for each gun. I reload them when I get back home and they go right back into the range bag with a new stack of targets. The bag is heavier than it might be but I don't have to worry about leaving anything at home so can grab and go (okay, gotta get the guns from the safe first).
It sux driving to the range and realizing you left the needed ammo and/or magazines in the office. :wallbash: And shooting the Glock & AR in single-shot mode isn't any fun!

I've still got a very bulged 9MM case I ran through my G-35 just as a reminder not to box 'em up at the same time.

saw this happen to a COP......
couldn't hit the broadside of a fat girl's butt with his G22, he was shooting the ammo provided by his weapons officer.
Speer GoldDot 124 gr 9mm don't work worth a damn in a .40 !
(time to change profession)
To the cop's benifit of a doubt, his PD was known more for traffic & DUI stops than their weapons proficiency....:clown2:

kind of thing happenned to me too:
getting to the range to find out I forgot the mags of this or that gun.
or getting to the range and find out I forgot the key to the gun-lock we must have on the gun (by law) while on the road (that is why most of my locks are numbers-lock but for the lever-action and the Steyr AUG must be a cable lock and the one I had are key locks...) .

Charly, I just leave the key in the cable lock. Don't know about your laws, but ours simple state they must be locked with a trigger or action lock. They don't specify where we can "store" the keys!
I once showed up to the range with my .223 rem 700...... and the bolt from my .308.
