View Full Version : Traded into a Smith 642
Just made a trade a couple days ago and ended up with this one.

It is a beautiful little J frame and I love the way it carries. Just not sure If I will ever learn to shoot it.
I had some errands to run today so I grabbed a handful of ammo and put it in my other pocket. Stopped by the range on the way to town and let it rip.
I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with this thing if I was inside of it. I know that it will take some practice but I'm doubting that I would ever take the time to do it.
Everyone says that these little J frames are made for up close and personal stuff. But what if the gunfight that I find myself in (hopefully never) happens at a longer distance?
I just don't know. It sure is a good looking little thing, but maybe I should stick with the Glock?

With a little practice, you will be able to "own" anyone within 10yds of you.
Just watch and see.

You should really relax and let things run with a Centennial. It's not unheard of to make good hits at 25-yards/75-feet.
Seriously, there is time to get familiarized and make that gun sing. It just takes some practice.

Great looking gun. Carry it and whatever Glock you feel comfortable with.

Without going into the why's and wherefor's, learning the trigger control to shoot a DAO revolver effectively made me a better shooter all around. Jes sayin'.

I just don't know yet. I hate the trigger even though it is prolly a great double action.
I didn't notice any recoil at all with .38 +P ammo, that was a good sign since I was a little nervous about that after all the gun rag articles I've read.
I should really give it another try since it carries so well. But I keep thinking that I can shoot "groups" with a Glock 27. I'm really trying to expand my horizons here.
Oh, and I can not count to 5 apparently. At my little range session today I got the loudest sound in the world. CLICK
