I am impressed with this can based on the first (and only) two trips to the range with it.
First trip I shot it with some mediumly warm 230g/Titegroup & WST loads on two quiet evening at the range. The pit and the hill behind it reverb it back at me a little; nothing like the little outback I am used to shooting but still pretty quiet.
2nd trip out I had loaded down some of the titegroup rounds to 4.0g and wnated to see if the cycled the action on the Mac enough to lock the bolt back; they did just fine. What a difference these rounds made- much quieter and a lot less muzzle climb when draining a mag.
In the meantime I finally made it to Homey-Depot to pick up a bottle of the gel lube used for pulling wire in tight conduit. I had read (and been told by a couple NFA types that this stuff works wonders dampening the bigger bore cans.
So this week I've loaded about a 1000 of these 4.0 rounds and am getting itchy about shooting some.
So i put a squirt in the can, loaded a mag with one round, and shot it into the dirt floor at the end of the bullet lab (there are a few hundred 22 boolits buried in there already.
Amazing.
Didn't believe it, did it again. Even better.
3 rounds into the mag, selector to full auto, 3 more in the dirt.
This is a tiny confined area, and there were no unpleasant noise levels or pressure jumps in the ears. However, after 5 rounds the smoke was enough that I closed up for the night.
Conclusion: Git you one & lube it up.
