A friend of mine is trying to find a 45 cal pistol mold that throws a 180 gr. .454 diameter bullet. Can anyone point me in the right direction ?

I just did a quick check with the big guys, Lyman, RCBS, Lee, Saeco and they have 185gr bullets sized .452 and they have .454 in the classic 255gr weight.
Most .454 molds are made for guys shooting colts or colt reproductions that want the "authentic" 255gr bullet.
I am sure that what you are looking for has been made but it may not be a normally stocked item. I would check on cast boolits and see what they say.

625 with a fat groove ?
I don't recall ever seeing a .454 that light, but like JT says, you can get one made up.
What's he mainly want to use it for ?
