I am trying to follow these directions but no use. Would soaking them in something help?

You've got to insert the punch halfway the length of the magazine, and try not to squeeze in on the sides a whole lot.

They get a little easier with practice.

Just the right amount of "side squeeze".

Getting them off of a g26/27 can be a bit more tricky then getting them off of the G17-23.
get vilified on gt if i present an option, so i'll try here and see what happens lol
glock has belt and suspenders view
the wings which make it hard to remove floorplate are not really necessary as the spring force on the locking plate will keep the floorplate on just fine - i have totally removed some wings and modified the angle on others - either way it is easier to work after mod

Aaarrgggh  I tried to remove the floorplates like everyone said, and I even found an online video and followed that....BUT...when I pushed down on the button in the floorplate with my punch each floorplate "caved in".
To describe better, they seemed to have flipped 180degrees and were facing top to bottom instead of front to back so there wasn't anything for me to push down on anymore. I ended up using a small flat-head screwdriver and prying one side of the floorplate up and then popping it off.
It worked, but dinged up the outside of the mag a little....cosmetic only, thankfully.
