been going back and forth on what unit and season, male or female, either sex blah blah blah.

My boss has a nice ranch, takes most of Oct and Nov off from the business to guide hunts up there. About 3K acres with Elk, Mulies, Moose, Coyote, Bobcat, Black Bear etc. Did not want to be "that guy" and ask him to hunt while he is usually making a few $K off each of these guys.

He popped in my office today and said "Dave, if you haven't firmed up your plans for 4th rifle, you and Kyle hook it on down to the DOW and get a cow tag for my unit, all my pay hunters are gone by then and we're doing a meat hunt boy's weekend".

a couple of pics:

Just wow :yikes:

That has to be the best job on the planet

That bear is huge.

... and people are always asking what kind of pistol or revolver to tote in bear country

That blackie was 536 lbs, a little under 30 lbs off the state record. He is a big fan of the .30-378, one of the elk this season was taken @ 700yds.

It doesn't hurt to be able to stay in a 3,000 sq ft cabin with flat screens and pool tables and all that jazz. What really hurts is the guy is 3 or 4 years younger than me and earned every dime of it himself. Does make me happy to work for someone I respect, I was self employed for 11 years so it is important.

Looks like some serious .30-06 load development and vodka and bourbon hoarding are in my future for the next couple of weeks.
