I have been compiling a bullet order from Precision DELTA. I'm going to get some 230 gr FMJ for my G21 and I have been eyeballin the 148 HBWC for my various 38 specials for plinking and target practice. Nice soft load (2.7 BE) that my wife can also use in her Lady Smith. However, I noticed that the PD website says the diameter is .357. I thought that lead bullets should be like .358 dia. and that lead .357 dia. are only for match barrels which have tighter chamber and leade dimensions. My 38's are all plain vanilla S&W revolvers, nuttin fancy.
Has anyone used these bullets in a non-match barrelled gun? How did they work? I am guessing the smaller bullet would permit flame cutting and promote LL (lotta leading).
If these are only for match guns, then who sells a good 148gr WC that will fill my need? I understand that HBWC are swaged from very soft lead while DEWC are cast and are a bit harder. The DEWC being harder, would require the .358 dia. Would the soft skirt on the HBWC obturate enough in a standard barrel to form an effective seal?
I know, I have posed a lot of questions, so I'll stop here. Thanks in advance for any wisdom you may bestow upon them.

The PD HBWC's will work well.

They will obturate with just a sneeze as they are, or are almost pure and very soft.

Just run em light so the skirt stays in one piece ;)

Hornady and Sierra make some too (used to anyway), but the PD's are going to be quite a bit less expensive.

For lube, I always give em a shot of ALOX.

Probably not necessary, but, I do

I just finished loading my last 500 of them, and need to order a couple thousand more.

3.2grns of W-231, bullet seated flush with case mouth, CCI small pistol primer, and just enough crimp to remove mouth bell.

Very accurate target load, and if I were a rabbit hunter, they would fit the bill nicely I bet.
