A friend of mine is offering me a Rossi/tauras model 351 that is basically new (I saw or shot the first 30 rounds.) I've been looking for a little wheelgun for pocket carry, and though this one is a little heavy for that, this might be a deal. I'd have to try to find some grips for it though.

Anyway, what do _you_ think?

What caliber is it? I never shot or handled a Rossi before but if it shot fine for you, it might be a good gun. How much does he want for it?

The 351 is a 2 inch 5 shot 22oz 38 Spl. Blue finish is worth $221 in exc. and stainless is $180 in exc. according to the Gun Trader's Guide.

It's not a bad little pocket gun, handles and shoot's like a S&W, if you've got the money go for it.

My experience with Rossi has been good.

Okay, I'm late getting back into my own post! Indeed, it is .38, and at 22 oz a bit on the heavy side for pocket carry, but I'm a big ol boy, so I guess it will be okay.

I ended up buying it for $225. It is not a tack driver by any means, and the trigger is lawyer heavy (soon to be fixed I think though). I do not think it is a bad gun for the price, though now I've got to cycle various loads through it to see what I like best. Using some cheap Win JHP +P at the moment (it is what was available on a sunday in a small town.)

A little snubbie .38 like that will soon become your "always" gun. My little Smith 642 is the gun I have on me when I'm not carrying a gun. Running into the store for something? Put the .38 in my pocket. Going to check the mail? Put the .38 in my pocket. .....My 2 main carry pieces are the .38 and a Glock 36 in a IWB holster, but sometimes I don't carry the Glock....Here's something else to throw out : There are 2 times where I thought I might actually have to pull my gun and both times I wished I had my Glock with me (mainly because it's a .45) ,but you make do with what you got. The gun in your hand is better than 10 of them at home sitting in your safe. That Rossi will eventually get to where you forget you even have it on you....I believe that every shooter or CHL holder should own at least one J frame snubbie and learn how to use it.
