man I'm a young pup compared to all you war horses, so I will put the plug in for the Air Force, 6 years 84'-90' stationed out of Travis AFB (I know some of you vietnam vets went thru there) I was a crew cheif (aka knuckle draggin wrench turner) in the 60th OMS on the C-5 Galaxy(fred),,, did alot of traveling and like other posters said was the best time of life,

ahhh Mc Clellan, we did fight physicals their I beleive,( or mather) either way I had a friend from tech school stationed there, hooked up with him and he was in the middle of a bunch of nurses, I know that I had some GOOD memories with a nurse from Mc Clellan one particular little blonde from Oklahoma , sweetest country drawl ,,, man memories

65-91, basically 1967-1969 Korat Thailand bomb loader on the F105. 71-75 Gunner on the AC-130 gunship Ubon and Korat Thailand. Closed down Korat and moved to Hurlburt field Florida still as a Gunner on the Gunship. Retired 1 Feb 91.

Here is a link about the AC-130 gunship. I few on the A/E/H models The U model was after I retired. We only used the mini guns I think 1 time during Viet Nam. Flew to damm low for them to work. Also we never used tracers. What you saw going down they could see coming back up. I did every thing they wrote about up to Desert Storm. I was to close for retirement for them to send me. Ooohh I love you Spectre guys!! While in Iraq in '03, were gettin' mortared and rocketed with 120mm shells. Had an idea where they were coming from and one night we had spooky in the air when the locals decided to lob a few our way. That AC-130 dialed in and hit them with the mini-gun....they had tracers going and it looked like one big, mean-assed laser coming down to the ground. One heck of a show!

thanks to all. about the closest i come is having a hand in building 8800 M1, IPM1 and M1a battle tanks, or putting fuel in the subs, carriers, and anything else that runs on a reactor.
