Adam IM'd me that there is a SDB just down the road from me for sale, $140 in 9mm.... I'm grabbing it on way home tomorrow !!
Besides the caliber kit & dies to change to 45acp, what do I need to do for setting up for large primer ?
I am a current 650 user right now for 9mm.

The SDB comes with parts for both LP and SP primers from the factory. Hopefully everything is there. You might want another tool head, but your probably aware of that

Damn
Dat is a score
I run a SDB sometimes. It ain't a 650, but it works well.
It's a lil smaller, primer mechanism operates similar to a 550, spent primers kinda like a 650.
Once you get in a rythym, you can really turn out ammo in a hurry.
To swap to a large (or small) primer, you only need a primer magazine tube and a large (cup) primer bar.
Other than dat, just load ya pickup tubes, drop, an get wit it, just like any of em.

That press is mine now !!
I called him last night, ask him to consider it sold, just wait till 5pm Monday after work,, and I stop on way home to get it. He said "ok"..
All I had to do was change my route home, was a minute or 2 off the drag that pass through Huber and dead end at my neighborhood.
The press is dirty from sitting, the measure' clear tube is green, and masking tape debris all over from 7yr ago he said. The 3 locator pins is missing, and gave me 1 primer pick-up tube, oh well, I gots 5 good ones with my 650, wonder if those will suffice :biggrinjester:
Need to look yet and see if the primer feed tube is in the tower, I aint looked yet, and the plastic follower for the primer tower is missing, oh well. For what I stole it for, I guess I can afford to buy some small parts to get it running.

He gots another 1 set up in 45acp he says.. "aint selling it" he says.
I tore it down this evening, I think a good clean in Safety-Kleen at work, and a few wipes with 3M wet/dry to the running surfaces, a film of Mobil-1 synthetic lube, might be good to go.
Further inspect says I'm missing the primer catch bin and holder, large charge bar and large primer bar & tube for the tower, and an Akro-bin.. I pass a Harbor Freight 2x a day, along with a couple Grainger.
Does the SDB seem to have a slight loose-clunky feel about it when operating ?
He says he had it listed previously, and nobody called... this time he got a pile of calls, but they all goofed off, he said he had a few calls to make to make when I left to tell the others not to come over.

If ya used ta runnin a 650 on a roller handle, it feels a little kludgy.
But as long as it feel smooth thru the entire travel you should be good ta go ;)
I would put dat bad boy in a box an send it to Mogollon.
For $30 plus da parts ya need, ya get it back like new
Congrats Capt

If you want it in 45, you might put out the word that you'd trade your 9mm SDB for a 45 SDB.
Shipping it in to Dillon for an overhaul is something to consider.

Got it pretty well tore down, some general cleaning with Safety-Kleen at work, light polish with 3M wet-dry paper to the ram, and some Mobil-1 synthetic grease, this thing seems pretty smooth now. :cheers2:
Just a couple replacement parts that were missing, and I think this thing will be ready to run, but I can "bum" what I need off my 650 in mean time to go on a test drive. :driving:

I lucked into a whole new SDB primer assembly (blast shield, top cap & all) for $7.95 shipping from another forum. I keep one set up & marked for "Large", the other for, "Small". Changeovers are even quicker now and best of all, don't have to fret over messing up a primer orifice tip by changing in the swap. Great little press.
