and she did GREAT! She finally went and admitted she had a good time. She shot the 8" steel circle 4/6 times with a 22LR revolver at 25 yards standing. She tried the 38 special revolver and hit it once. Shes a crack shot!

She tried the AR, but it was too loud for her. She even did well with the 22 scoped rifle. She hit the 8" plate everytime at 100 yards. She couldn't hit the 3" plate at that distance, but one step at a time.

Thought I brag a bit. Only one problem, she really wants a pink 9mm now. I really don't want to buy a perfectly good gun and whore it up by painting it pink. Whatever she wants though. How good are your wives at shooting?

Nice dude! I envy your girls interest in shooting. I am trying to find one of the like.

Sounds like she can shoot better than most first timers. Get her that pink gun:thumbsup:

Man, I thought this was posted by cohutt when I first read dat thread title.

I knew it wuz gonna be bad too, he already killed one hawg :animlol:

Buy her a pink gun an let her use your brass. One an out is OK, but if she want ta use it again, dat cost her some money.

But, if she buy her own brass, you can load it for her an jus use her powder an primers so she a be able to shoot on da cheap wit good ammo too

My fiance hated guns. Any shape and size. Took her home from college once, and she plinked with a 22lr rifle I have, and LOVED it. Last time we went home, she was firing my Glock 21sf, and now wants me to get her a U22. Works for me, cause I want one....Also makes it easier to butter her up when I want a new gun.

My wife wants to go shooting but feels intimidated by going with the guys. I have a couple of other women that might go but I think I might go a little different route. While at Wal-Mart today picking up my hunting license I saw a flier for a women's only shooting course, ran by a woman. She said that sounds exactly like something she would do so we'll see. It isn't a CCW course or anything, just a woman that wants other women to not sit around waiting to be a victim. Need to get me some nice soft shootin .45 and .38 loads for her to practice with.

Glad to see more of the women getting in to shooting. Both my wife and daughter shoot. Also my son.
Got to work on my future son in law. Silly New York boy.

my wife keeps saying she wants to compete but needs to pratice so she doesn't make an ass of herself. she's a bit intimated because so many master class guys i shoot with know her. i'm building her a open gun on a g17 she won plus she has a g19 she won in atlanta a few years back so she's all set to compete, if she got brave enough to do it.

The first time I took my wife out shooting she started with my .40 and the very first shot was dead center in the silhouette but she didn't like the recoil and would flinch each time after that. When I was bringing the target back in I asked if there was anything I should be worried about......due to her flinching she had blown the crotch out of the target. lol

With my .38 and 9mm she did really well. Now when she goes with me she won't shoot my .40 and won't even try my .45 autos or .45 Colt.

Congrats Steve, my wife to be also shoots. She's shot everything from 22 rifle, AK, AR, 12 guage, with Buck Shot and slugs.

Everytime we go, all the guys that walk by say, "You'd better never make her angry!" I just say, "Believe me, I know".

It's been a while since we've shot since most of the time its outside now and its really hot. She's taken a new fancy to archery, so that may be her next hobby.

The .357 I am selling is her gun. She was a good shot but lost interest very fast.

I'm surprised that so many wifes shoot. Mine started out a few years ago when we were dating on a 40. Not a good idea, start with a 22.

Shes intimatated by the other shooters, but the range I'm at is more of a rifle range than pistol. So she can outshoot most shooters there and shes been there 2 times in the last year and a half.

My wife is CHL holder, carries an M&P9c and now want's me to build an AR for her. Is NRA and member of Dallas Pistol Club too. Guess I'm lucky. Now all I need to do is get her to start reloading... <evil laugh>

If I didn't get it I know you didn't get it.....
(picture this)
Out in the middle of nowhere shooting with me and her in a caliche pit....
"C'mon there aint nobody out here. It's just you and me..."
This was out on the family land....660 acres and we are the only ones there....She still wouldn't do it.
My wife has grown up around guns all her life (me and her daddy are cut from the same cloth)
With me she's gotten to shoot a 1911, AK, AR, 12 ga (00 Buck), .22, and a 9mm.
Hell she owns the nicest Colt Python you ever did see.

When our women are up there this is what we see:

My wife shoots once a week. She shoots her XD9, and I shoot either the G19 or G22.

I don't get alot of flack when it comes to buying guns, as long as it's a good deal. She loves to shoot, but she hates to spend money!

My girlfriend actually is a member of this board, lol.

She shoots pretty well, but doesn't have one of her own yet. We're looking for one for her right now.

Here she is with my Ruger Security Six .357 Magnum (which she loves to shoot, even with full-house magnum loads, though she can't shoot my old G23 due to recoil):

I Duracoated my girlfriend's AR pink. I'd post pics but it needs a second coat after sanding that I have been putting off for a year now.

Pretty cool Steve. Now you have to get her to pick up her CCW. Mine goes through the course Saturday.

My lovely bride has gone from "I hate guns" to noticing an ad in the classifieds for a shotgun reloader, telling me about, finding the classified ad she threw out, bringing it to me, and getting the phone so I can call the guy. Its taken a year to get this far.

I think one of the best tips to get women involved in firearms is that where and when ever you take them with you when shooting that there should be some women around. Even if they aren't shooting seeing other women there makes it safe for them. There are usually some women at SASS matches shooting. The matches I've been to usually have some fun joking around. Maybe take her to a match with you both watching and spending quality time together followed by a dessert or dinner stop.

:iagree: That be the way to do it - let em work their way up. And let em watch the news. That's all it took for mine. Helps that her aunt shot rifle competitively.
ETA: Oh yeah - and tell them you're proud of them when they do it.

I've probably gone with or taken about a dozen girls shooting and I find its no different between guys and girls. If you are safe, you have a good time. We usually start out with 22lr, move up to 9mm or 45 in a 1911, do some 38spl in the full size revolvers.

Towards the end of the range session I try to get many people, guys and girls to at least try the 357mag.
