Like Docters an J Points, but not sure about da best (as in most rugged wit least hassle) mount. Would like windage an elevation adj without drillin or cuttin da frame or site dovetails
Maybe for carry if it will conceal well in a SS II
Ideas ? Suggestions ? What do you use ?
Tried da Crimson Trace sights an just cain't get used to em
They make mounts for these that fit a standard dovetail, a Novak, or BoMar cut. Docter is the best. They allegedly make a military/LE unit that has extra gaskets and better electronics.

Even the old Optima 2000 as a slide ride lasted fairly well. I ran one on a Glock for a while. Difficult to find the little SOB coming out of the holster unless you are lucky or practice a lot. Any dot beats the crap out of night sights in poor light conditions.

I had good luck with an optima, Adjustment could be a pain. I dont think I would count on any dot for a carry gun. If Im worried about low light Id use night sights.
For a regular dot the Ultradot is the best as far as adjustability and durability. They do need either a frame or slide mount.

Ultra dot also makes the "Ultra Dot L/T"
I have one I really like it. Mine is mounted on my shotty. But seems to me that it ought to work on a 1911

I am not sure what the total height and windage agustment is. However I have never had to see how much adjustemnt I can make. I pretty much adjusted it so that POA matched and POI. I have then left it.
It is also not click agjustable. It comes with a little dial guage that snaps to the hex wrench. As you turn the dial wrench you can then see how much it has been adjusted.
Really I guess What I am saying is that you adjusted and leave it.
There is one thing that I am not sure I like. To turn it off you put the cover on. The sight has a light sensor and is self adjusting. Thus as it gets brighter out the sight gets brighter. When it gets darker the sight dims. Until if it is in complete darkness it turns off. If you need the sight in pitch black you have to use the "manual switch" . However I mean pitch black. If you are clearing a dark room there will be a dot. If you are clearing a cave in tennesse you better use the manual switch.

However if I was to buy another micro dot sight I would buy a burris fastfire. http://www.opticsplanet.net/burris-fastfire-w-picatinny-mount-4-moa-dot-mat-fastfire-sight.html
It is cheaper, has a on/off switch, and has a lower profile.
