I like Kimber
I like 45s

A friend won the door prize at last fall's NRA banquet here, presumably this same version

Kimber Ultra Carry II - NRA special edition

Offered to me for $500

Should I peel off the 5 bills and pick this up tomorrow?

MSRP for the basic version seems to be $888 http://www.kimberamerica.com/1911/ultra-carry-ii/ultra-carry-ii

sounds like a deal. But not really my kind of gun.

I'd snag it if you have any use whatsoever for a shorty 45 ACP.

Kimbers have a different safety setup than JMB originally designed, and it works, but some folks don't buy Kimbers because of that.

For $500 I don't think you can go wrong. Shoot it, if you don't care for it, sell it off. Some folks think fancy grips and a roll mark are uber collectible but, I just look at em as a gun to shoot.

Some shorty 45 ACP's can be a little finicky but I imagine Kimber has worked that out

Nice lookin pistola to boot ;)

I agree with Slick, REAL 1911s have a 5" barrel and no firing pin safety.

I have no interest in a short arsed 1911. That being said for $500 you can try it and if you do not like it sell it for a profit.

It's like Wilford Brimley and oatmeal. It's the right thing to do.

In a heartbeat. You can sell it for a profit. They sell pretty easy too.

Buy it. I have an Ultra and I like it a lot, it is very reliable and conceals well. As said you can always sell it later after having your way with it.
