crappy cell phone pic but I put this rifle on layaway long ago and have been waiting to get the scope. Went and picked it all up and mounted the rings and scope and bipod last night:

Rock River Varminter with a Vortex Viper 6.5-20X44 30MM tube. The scope seems VERY nice for the money so far.

Is that really the right scope elevation for you?

In my setup, which is almost the same, I am very happy with much less scope elevation.

Vortex Optics is getting a very good rep locally. A few of the guys I work with have tried them and rave about them. From what I've seen and heard. I will be buying one for my next rifle.

I haven't shot it yet but it seems to be. I can set my cheek firmly on the stock but not have to scrunch down to get a good sight picture.

I shot it Sat. I may give one of the Burris PEPR mounts a try, this could be a touch lower. With my cheek resting on the stock it was the right height, but really tucked in on the bench I could have gone a little lower.

Didn't do much shooting, I took my 5 and 7 year old girls out to shoot .22's so I just put the RRA on paper and got the scope more or less zeroed.

My 5 year old did learn that Daddy wasn't lying when he said not to pic up that .223 brass right after it hit the ground!

ARs have to have the scopes mounted insanely high because there's no drop to the comb. That might be a bit high, but not by much.
