Well not really but I was at a friend's place and shot some rifles. I managed to site in a 6.5 06 but the other scopes were giving us trouble. Still it was nice to be outside shooting. Anybody else shoot today?

No, but I'm about to have a stroke to go. The weather's been just horrible here for shooting, if it don't break soon, I am. Guess I'll head to the indoor range for some pistol work.

I took one of my employees and his 11 year old son out today.
Both had limited experience outside of a S&W 22 pistol.

By the end of the day they had added the following to their "experience" list:

G19
G17c
G31 SF
Kimber (fullsized)
Kimber (Ultra Carry)
Ruger SBH 44
SW 629
Ruger MK II and Gemtech Outback
S/A Uzi Model B 9mm
MAC 10/45 & Gemtech Viper
AK
AR
Bushmaster M17s Bullpup

I gots lots of chit to clean now

Expanding the horizons of "new" shooters is a blast.

Yeppers. That's the problem with my shooting crew too, everybody shoots, one guy loads & cleans. Sounds like your bunch got a mighty big heap of experiences for just a single day. Good on you.

I just got back from the "bog" too.

The annual Easter gun show was Friday and Saturday. A few interesting things there. A 6" S&W model 17 for $400. Just missed that one by minutes (darn it!) As well as a model 14 for the same price. Also saw a 4" light barrel S&W model 10-5 for $325. It was almost new. Just beautiful shape, but it didn't really call out to me and I really didn't need one, so I let it pass.

I did pick up a cheap azz scope for my AR flat top. I have been using the bolt on carry handle with iron sights for ever, but the front sight is getting harder and harder to see lately (it must be shrinking). Picked up one of these: http://www.ncstar.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=31

Reviews are mixed, but for $85 I figured what the heck. Popped it on and zeroed it today. Seems OK for what it is. Time will tell.

Let us know how you like that scope. I like cheap things.

The picture is clear enough and the reticle is crisp, although I swear that the vertical cross hair looks to be tilted about "a 1/4 degree". The reticle is also lighted (you can select red or green) with three intensity settings, although they are all too bright to be of any real use. They are so bright they wash out the picture. I am just using it for a range gun, so I am not too concerned.

While I was at the range I also picked up about 200 rounds of once fired 9mm, 75 rounds of .40 and 25 rounds of .45 brass. They were just a little muddy. I got them rinsed off. Just have to tumble them now.

That's good. While we were at the range we wrested with several inexpensive scopes. One we couldn't see out of...completely black so we couldn't even shoot the rifle it was mounted on.

The others required a LOT of scope adjustment. Only one did I get completely dialed in. The others still aren't right.

Heck, I'll shoot anybody's guns, with their ammo any time, regardless of scope. As long as they are in safe working order.
