Where do you shoot at mostly? In door range? official outdoor range? un official? Matches?
ME, I been shootin' at the local un-official range in the little town I live in (4 mi. from mu' hut) for the 3 years I been here. Also, before that, I had me a waaaay too cool hut for one guy way out in the Southern Rockies in New Mexico in a little Town/area called Mora Valley. I used to in the back yard and shoot...not all the time, didn't wanna spook the nieghbors too oftenas a the new guy in the hood. Other than that, I always find my way to the un-official range outside of Albuquerque, right before Route 66 Casino. I like em' cuz it's like here on GP, self moderate, but a lotta' freedom to practice drawin', double taps, or just plain emptying a 30 round mag of 223 or 7.62X39 mm into different "interactive" tragets!:subgun::ready::chicken:

Ahh. The Wild West. No place like it in the world. :cornut:

The indoor range is nice if there is not a lot of people there...Brass is easier to get too! Just sweep it up and dump it in my bag.....We got a big outdoor range outside of town (about 20 min from the house) Haven't had much time ,settling in to the new house, (still a lot of work that needs to be done) When I start churning out rounds on my new Dillon 550 I'll make some trips to the range with various loadings to see how they do.

We have a beautiful outdoor range about 40 minutes from home with BBQ area, it's member only, where we have the rifle range on the left up to 500 yards, Pistol range on the right up to 110 yards.
We also can do shotgun (clayand trap)

I also have a permit for vermint control, so I can shoot on my property too

While I fire most rounds either off my deck or in my buddies back yard, I prefer to shoot "reactive" targets at the place shown in the photo.

I'm a member of a local outdoor shooting range. www.ukiahgunclub.com (http://www.ukiahgunclub.com) It's a nice club, but the pistol range is often tied up with Cowboy shooting and local LEO training.

I'm a member of a local rifle club. They have a six bay indoor range limited to pistol calibers. The outdoor range is about 20 miles from the indoor. The outdoor has six pistol bays where we shoot IDPA, GSSF and some other matches. The rifle side you can setup to shoot anything up to 300 yards. Anything goes from 22LR to 50 BMG, MG's are also welcome. This is what the rifle range looks like at the MG match.

Angeles Range is about 15 miles North of Los Angeles. They have a large pistol range with steel or paper to shoot and a large rifle range with steel out to 700 yards. Also have a skeet thrower area, but I haven't tested that out yet. TONS of free brass laying around all the time, that's my favorite part :coolgleamA:

This pic is looking out over the rifle range.

i belong to a gun club with a indoor range for pistol only.

its built underneath a viaduct here in town.
the range has been there for ever and most locals dont even know its there.

its very basic with few comforts, we just put in a porta john for #1 only. before that you had to go across the street and use the bathroom at a local bar.

we do have a furnace and ventilation but no air.
at $40 a year i dont complain.

as a reserve deputy i can use the county range for outdoor work or go to a local Ike's range.

I live in the desert so I shoot in the desert. Get a map of NV and everything that's not Reno or Vegas is pretty much deserted. I live out of town and can go shooting at places five minutes from my house but usually go to another place about 20mins away. I have a path I take that covers about six or seven of the most popular shooting places that I go to just collect brass from the nice people that leave it for me.

I'm a member of the Practical Pistol Club at Michigan Technological University. There's enough money in the account so member ship is free and open to the public.

It's an indoor range housed on campus in the basement of the Student Development Complex. The range limits are 2000fps or 2200fpe. Not too shabby. A place to shoot in the winter. There is a member only sportsman's club not too far away that is $10 per year for students.

I have 2 indoor ranges that are about 20 minutes away max drive time. I rarely shoot at them as I prefer outdoor shooting.

I am part of a volunteer group that helps maintain and upgrade the various facilities within the Francis Marion National Park. This includes, of course, the two rifle ranges in the forest - Twin Ponds & Boggy Head.

They are only 100 yards in length but with a shed roof over head and concrete under foot it works for me. Damn sure better than standing in the dirt and having the sun bake you during the summer.

If it's legal to shoot in SC then you can fire it at the FMNF ranges. I shoot my MG's there all the time! My buddy brings his M203 and shoots chalk rounds too.

The down side is that they allow paper targets only.

When I shoot my big stick I go to a 500 meter range that I am a member at.
If I shoot pistol I generally go to an indoor range that has targets on wires that magically go back and forth, cool.
If I take my shotty to shoot clays or my EBR I go to some state forest lands. However I worry about run-ins with the local tweekers and cookers.

The good thing about the metro is that there are several indoor ranges, and one at Mystic Lake Casino's Dakotah Sport and Fitness in Prior Lake is upgrading their range as we speak form 6 50ft stalls, to 5 50yd stalls and 5 25yd stalls come sometime this Sept. Bill's has two indoor range operations, Burnsville Pistol Range upgraded a while back to include rifle bay to just about 50yds. Metro up on the north end is okay. There is basically only one outdoor range for public use, but tha is limited from June to deer season....Otherwise the outdoor ranges are all private clubs. DPMS operates a nice range in St. Cloud that is open to the public. There was a new indoor range NW of the cities, but the owner fell to problem with drugs........seems to be a theme in the cities....the former mgmt of Armored Fire had same problem so Bill's took over that operation.

There are some nice clubs one MRC has heated and cooled indoor firing points with electronic scoring! There are several active HP ranges with 600yd ranges and one 1000yd range. Oakdale hosts the GSSF Match in July, and

For me I have memberships to three outdoor ranges, and I frequent Dakotah Sport and Fitness because it is the best ventilated and lighted range in the metro.

This is afterall MN and it snows! And, we are getting does here in MidApril heck the weekend go 2ft of snow in the upper portions of MN....

YOU NEED TO BACK OFF ONE GOSH DARN SECOND !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our group has written permission to shoot at that spot from the Nevada department of wildlife. 4 times a year we go in with a trailer and and clean those places out. WE are the only ones that do it. Just because you see a photo like that DOES NOT mean that you jump to a conclusion. MOST OF THAT CRAP is left by all of the DIRT BIKERS that come out to the desert for the weekend and party around.

next time you should RE-WORD or think about what you are saying......... cause you never know how someone will respond.

I'm one of the lucky ones, because I have my own gun range. I can walk out my front door and start pulling the trigger in under five minutes. My range is only long enough for pistols and submachines, but my father has a cow pasture that is good for 300 yards. And it is extremely close by too.

I shoot with a good amount of my buddies and none of them reload or save brass, so I make out pretty good.

I am not a tree hugger! But, I do subscribe to the idea that what you take out to shoot gets disposed of properly! Not left for someone else to have to deal with. But, it is obviously not universally accepted. Just like the red neck ass hats that shoot signs up, the members clubs that shoot up target frames, and host of other activities! So, guys keep it up so other public venues get closed to shoothing! Congrats!

You have blown this way out of controll. honestly you are one of those people that believes that you are always right and never do anything wrong. it's sad that you would turn a thread that was something cool and turn it into a pile of crap. your idealistic ways are good but you come at the wrong people. but seeming that you go to shooting club's i guess your views would be a little strained. I surley hope you pick up your brass and targets because you wouldnt want to litter and destroy those wonderful shooting club's. Or do they hire someone to do that? anyways when we go out in a couple of weeks ill send you pictures of all the guys picking up targets and OTHER peoples various trash and send them to you VIA a reply from your nasty,, mean , and vulgar PM that you sent me. I understand that we need to protect the enviroment. and I being one that hates to see trash lying around agree. but your tack of responding to people needs to be a little better. maybe in do time this will change. If theres anything else that i may do to easy your mind about us simple red neck folk that live in the desert and throw our trash around please let me know. I wouldnt want to offend someone that lives thousands of miles away and feels that they should controll us hillbilllies. maybe you can send me a couple hundred bucks "cause the dump is expensive" and join in our efforts to make you happy.
If you would like i could PM you with the date and time that were going to do this "of corse we may be drunk" and you may help in our efforts.

peace be with you.

I shoot at a small, 12 lanes or so, 100 yard range that a local club runs on State Forest land. I'm going to their meeting next month to see about joining. The club runs the range for the public on weekends with the members doing RO duty and members can shoot anytime during the week.
