I want to change the barrel in my G21so I can shoot lead bullets.

Should I go with Lone Wolf or KKM Precision?

I have several LWD barrels. I really like them. LWD is in Idaho. I try to buy local... I think KKM is in Nevada. So I guess they are sort of Local too.

But I feel like I have a relationship with LWD. They made me a limited run G20-9mm Barrel. I got a killer deal on a early Glock lower receiver etc.

I would suggest you consider get the black oxide finish. I think it looks better then the bright shiny SS.

I have used Lone Wolf in my G-21 and my G-17 with zero problems.

I had a KKM in my G20 and it seemed like a fine bbl.
If you get the LW, please get the blind marked one, that little wolf is just ugly as sin.

I use and like LW products and have always found JR to be a stand-up guy. That said and on your specific product question, I'd go for the KKM. If you do a little searching, you'll find that LW barrels have very tight chamber dimensions...so much so, there are a ton of chambering problems using lead. Now as you know, tight chambers are a good thing however, IMHO I think LW may have went a little overboard and created the problem while trying to make a good product. To their credit, anyone having chambering issues can send the barrel back with a few of the (problem) loaded rounds and they'll re-cut the chamber at no charge. My experience with KKM has been excellent, they are well finished and accurate with as tight a chamber as you'd want. FWIW, if you decide to go LW and don't want the logo, they'll make you a "blind" barrel with the logo on the underside, out of view.

this is true.

I personally want the tight chamber. I figured that it would mean less case fatigue and thus more reloads for each case. Although I have a tight cases I have not had any problem with my cast bullet reloads.

I've only used KKM personally. Had some friends that experienced the tight chamber problems with lone wolf.

If you go with lone wolf, I'd see about sending in your rounds before they even ship it.

I was faced with this same dilemma with my G20. I considered the two you've listed but I ultimately chose Stormlake. Their barrel has been fantastic and, unlike some, they have no warranty issues concerning the use of handloads and it was made in America (LW is a product of Korea or thereabouts if that matters).

But I'd have absolutely no problem with owning either that you've listed.

I went with a KKM to shoot lead in my G17. It's purtier than a 20 dollar... well... it's might purty. You can see tomorrow in the reflections of the polished chamber. :)

And it's worked fine with the standard 125 LRN I use in my other 9s.

I have a KKM. I like it. I use it for my 45 Super Glock.

I don't have a LW, so.....

A lot of people never notice it, but Lone Wolf has a disclaimer on their website that if you use hand loaded ammunition in their barrels, you void the warranty. It can be found at the bottom of the page that displays their barrels.

.

Really? How do you know this?

I have never heard this. I am not claim that what you say is inaccurate I am just wondering where you obtained this information.

...... (LW is a product of Korea or thereabouts if that matters.) ......

Years ago, people said, 'Japan'. Recently, I've been told, 'Taiwan'.

Personally, I use only Bar-Sto Precision barrels; but, I'll admit this is a 35 year old buying habit. Ain't never had an accuracy or performance problem with Bar-Sto; the factory always gives me exactly what I ask for; and I've really had no reason to go anywhere else.

If I didn't intend to keep the Glock, THEN, I might go with a cheaper aftermarket barrel. The way things are, now, I plan on keeping my original Glock pistols all the way up to, 'checkout time'. ;)

I bought a G21 barrel and a G26 barrel for lead. They are very good barrels and accurate as I can hold. But I will say this about the chambering problems: wait until you have the barrel so you can use it as a "go, no go" gauge. You need to tailor your rounds for the barrel. Not only are the chambers tight, but the throats are short as well so you need to set your COAL accordingly.

If I bought another LW barrel I would pay the $10 extra for the blind logo also. That wolf is beyond tacky.
