Just curious if anyone here has experience with the original Ruger SP 101 in .22. The LGS has a very nice example for $450. I can'r go in there without handling it, it is a fine feeling firearm. What warning signs should someone look for in a used revolver like this? Thanks in advance.

I'm guessing the SP101 in 22lr couldn't be more rock solid. That thing is overbuilt for the 357 mag, so with the 22lr it's just overkill.
Never heard of a bad SP101.

I have never really been a revolver person but I do love the SP101, in all it's forms. If this gun comes down in price or sticks around for awhile, I may have to jump on it. It is better looking IMO than the new one Ruger is putting out because this one has the full length barrel shroud, but I think it is only a six shooter while the new one holds 8.

Agreed...offer a lower CASH price and see if they bite.

Went and visited the SP 101 today. I don't have the money to offer anything right now so I am kinda hoping it sits there for awhile. It is on consignment so maybe eventually he will accept a lower offer. Beautiful little gun.

I had a chance to handle and dry fire a Ruger SP101 and was disappointed by the terrible trigger pull and gritty action. This was not what I’m used to seeing with SP101’s so I was very surprised. I fully intend to purchase an SP101 22LR in a few months but will plan on buying a Wolff spring kit for it.

Was this the new Sp101 .22 or the old one?
The one I am lusting over is the older one and it seems to have a nice trigger. Not sure if it has been modified

Brand new, less than a month after they hit the market, nothing that couldn't be cleaned up just not a good trigger pull.

One of us posted an amazing trigger job done on his SP101 on here a few years ago...blow-up pics and step-by-step instructions. Mine is sweet as is, but I'm still tempted to try that instruction one day.
