Hello everyone; Been out scrounging again today, Still lots of lead out there to be had. Picked up about 100lbs of Lino and 150 WW today and left a lot behind:yikes:
So much Im seriously considering going the EBAY route or some other way to re-sell.
I thought I would check here first, I know a few here are going thru a good amount.
So my question is what will the serious bullet caster pay??
If you guys need it I can supply it.
I probably have a few hundred pound of Lino on hand, Lots of pure and lots of WW.
Yammer, Freak, and others Im serious here. If anyone needs bullet material Im gonna start selling it.
I just cant seem to stop scrounging so I might as well make room for more.
If youre interested you can PM me or post here. Im thinking a buck a pound delivered on the WW.
The lino Im not sure yet, I can either sell it as is or cut it with lead to get a alloy similar to Lyman #2.
Is there enough interest?????

Raw WW goes for 35¢ lb and "clean" lead goes for 60¢ lb. I can't get lino locally, but eBay is at $1 lb.
Is $1 lb ingots or raw? $1 for ingots and 70-75¢ for raw? At this rate I'm going through 350-450 pounds a month.

I'd be interested in the odd FRB - too many scroungers around to find any here.

This is EXACTLY what I'm doing too. I'm buying (competing with scrapyards) and making ingots to sell on Ebay.
The scrap yards are paying 12 cents a pound for lead delivered. I'm offering people 10 cents a pound, but I pick up (minimum 50 pounds).

It's probably just me but I like the casting and swaging forum more than the reloading ones. It seems like the deeper I go in this hobby, the more pedestrian the former level. When I was a gun nut i was scared of reloading... it was too specialized and overwhelming. When I got into reloading I was scared of casting. It was too specialized and overwhelming but gun collecting seemed pedestrian. Now that I'm into casting and swaging reloading feels pedestrian.
NEXT PHASE... LOAD DEVELOPMENT.

Right now I have more on hand that Ill probably ever use. Of course today I went and got some more.
If there is enough interest Ill see about mixing up some Lyman #2. At the moment I have WW ingots, Pure lead ingots, Straight Lino, Plus some alloy I salvaged from a friends indoor range that was a mixture of cast and swaged lead bullets, Its a little softer than Lymans #2 but seems to have more tin as it casts a pretty bullet.
When I hit the scrap yards I usually get some WW, some Lino and quite a bit of pure.
I know some guys have a tough time finding it, I dont plan on selling out but I may be able to supply a few guys casting if they need it.

In a couple of months, ANeat, I'll probably be looking for an on-going supply of lead at a rate of about an FRB a month for a year or so.

Today I gave my pure lead source 2 Masters badges for Friday, he was spastic excited about it, so I'm reasonably sure I'll have tons more pure lead coming my way soon.
I might be up for some lino to salt away, prolly trade cash money for it.

Well Sheeeeeeite, Checked the Lino on EBAY, Wow, One dude had 6 auctions, 32lbs, $45.00 each plus the shipping, all were buy it now/sold. Seen several 50lb boxes go for $75.00 to as high as $86.00....plus shipping.....
Another guy on cast boolits sold some for $2.00 a pound....
Man is it that bad out there, I think Ive been in my cave to long......

Yup, 1$ a pound seems the rate on Ebay . I bought some tin - antimony - babit , on eBay at a fair price.
Most of us don't figure our time or fuel used to heat the smelter ,, so its OK to work below min. wage pouring ingots of clean lead.
I've been watching the price of lead on ebay for a couple months now- as I'm considering getting into casting when I exhaust my current supply of components. Not only is lead going for $1+ per pound, they are buying up every last bit of it at those prices. I have yet to see someone not get asking price for lead. So if you're going to sell on ebay I'd consider a starting price of $1.50/lb at first just to see if you can get it. I bet you can most of the time.

Really? You realize 350# is not much alloy. That's only good for about 10K bullets (200gr).

I have 5 boxes of Lino ready, 50lbs in each box, $1.50 a pound delivered or $75.00 per box.
This is a mix of some 5lb lino ingots and some strips of lino from the print machine. The strips actually make pretty decent packing...
As soon as I recieve some more Flat rate boxes Ill get some WW ingots ready.

WW ingots will be $1.00 a pound delivered. If you want some combination of ingots to play with Ill put something together for ya.
Lino and pure lead mixed 50/50 is a good hard blend. WW and lino mixed to varying degrees can get you some really hard stuff.
A couple of guys want some ready made Lyman #2 so Ill probably mix up a few hundred pounds of that if you want something ready to cast.

1/2 WW and 1/2 pure makes for a nice 45 boolit alloy
1/3 ww and 2/3 pure makes for nice heavy 45-70 lobbers at BP velocities
