View Full Version : Brass score!
I scored some brass last week. My wife went to the training range where she works at and came home with 321 WCC 5.56 cases, about 500 9mm cases and 73 commercial .308 Winchester cases. The 9mm and .308 cases were all federal, but I am not complaining for free.

Bless her heart!
Encore!
Picked up about a hundred rounds of mixed 9P, .380 and 40-cal at the range a couple days ago. Separated it out, tumbled it shiny and clean, and smiled!

Monday when I went to the range a sheriff’s deputy was sighting in his new AR, so I scored about 50 case's, this was a good end to what was a less then great day of shooting.

Last Friday my friend came by. He shoots .40 but doesnt reload yet (I am going to teach him on my set-up) Anyway, he gave me about 300 rds of .40 brass to add to my 4K+, and probably 100 9MM brass that he found while at the range.
I went over to my mom's house (her boyfriend owns a junk yard) and he gave me a set of 98 GT wheels for my mustang that he happened to come across (I had been looking for a 17" replacement for my 94 mustang wheels for a while).
I then went back to my apartment and found a box of probably 300 pieces of 9MM brass in a box in front of my door with a note from the landlord. Apparently he figured out that I reload from all the brass and reloading components coming in the mail, and he used to reload pistol cartridges but moved on to shot gun stuff now.
Now THAT was a good day. I dont think I have ever had so much stuff given to me out of nowhere in one day.

I got 7,000 pieces of .223 for $65.
To process it, I spent enough hours to buy 7,000 rounds of factory ammo, if I spent the time working overtime instead.
But that was 2 years ago.
In 2008, my pay is up 14% and the cost of brass is up 100%.
Now the brass looks like a better deal.

Free brass is great, especially if you don't have to scrounge it yourself. If I have to scrounge it myself, I love hitting the range right after the police train. I can get scads of .40 (issued Glocks), and brass from their personal guns in .45, 9mm, and .380 ACP.
Yeah I talked to the range master at the range where the agency I work for shoots and he gave me a big box of assorted pistol brass. Mostly .40 with 9mm,.38,.45 mixed in. My wife has gotten me over a thousand WCC 5.56 cases from the prison she works at (Bless her heart).

A shop here has 9mm once fired ,I can get it cheap,he has 4000 = rounds .What do ya think about the price.I don't need a lot of 9mm but seems to be a good price.
Also has some lead igots(sp) not sure of weight or price, what is a good price on this per pound.
I may go on sat pm ,if ya think this is a fair price for brass.
But do need to get price on the lead.
I am not a great fan of shooting lead but may have to start, jacketed bulletts toooo muckin fuch.
