Anyone who can tell me if signing up for "load data" is worth the expense? I have many reloading books but wonder if the on-line data really covers all the bases on various calibers, powders, bullet weights, etc that makes the price worthwhile for a yearly cost. What ya think?

For someone that know the basics of reloading and is just looking for a variety of data, absolutely yes. LoadData is not your average internet reloading source providing the free public data from powder companies, etc. They actually have virtually all the published data from all sources as well as some you don't normally see such as, lead data from Oregon Trail, archived data from their sister publication, "Handloader Magazine" and others. For close to the price of some manuals you can access almost every published load for every caliber imaginable. A nice touch on their site is that you have the choice of views...the HTML version and a B/W version for printing. FWIW, I've been a member for years.

That's the kind of info I'm looking for. Thanks and hope others pipe in pro's/con's (want to hear it both ways to make education decision even though we're not talking a weeks pay). :smartass:

I have to amend my earlier reply. I had'nt checked in there for a while and your post prompted me to see what was new. I notice that some of the earlier provided data is now absent at least, on the calibers/bullet weights I checked. Noticeably missing is data from Nosler, Hornady and Sierra and perhaps, others. They still have all the Lyman & Speer data (along with many others) but it seems they might not have renegotiated to use some of the retail sold information. Might want to contact them and follow up on this if it's important to you.

I fired off an email to them checking on the status of the missing data specifically, whether it's in a state of flux or, looks to be permanent. The response over in the other forum is in error though on the Speer and Lyman data...both were present for the loads I checked as is, Barnes data. The only ones I know are missing for sure are Sierra, Hornady and Nosler. I hope this is just a matter of negotiation...for the years I've been a member, this is a one-stop-shop for virtually every vetted load on any caliber you could want. It would be a significant loss if the information they can provide is diminished. They have always been good to respond and I'll post what they reply on the state of things when I get a reply.

As expected, I got a prompt reply, below is the essential text. Note that I was incorrect about Nosler being missing, I failed to realize Nosler did not offer a bullet in the caliber|weight I checked on.

Nosler data is still on the site. It is labeled using Nosler bullets. This data came from them. Sierra is gone. They decided they wanted their data to stay in house with them. Hornady and LoadData.com are currently working on a new agreement. Of course as we grow they want more and more money from us. We are doing our best to keep that down so we can keep costs down to our subscribers.

If we can not come to an agreement with Hornady or Sierra, we will just shoot the data ourselves. If we do this it becomes ours and we can post it online. It will take some time to shoot all this data but we will get it done and back online.

Even without these sources we have over 200,000 loads online and we continue to add content to the site daily.

Please email us if you have any further questions.
