This has been a bad year so far.
45-230-TC mold:
Bolt on the sprue plate pivot broke.
The sprue plate is warped also.
Blocks will not seal.
Has seen almost 60K bullets in less than 5 months.

If I lived closer , I would TIG weld that bastard and machine it off for you . I would drill that bolt hole clean through / over size the hole on the spur cutter. You might need to swap out handles on another mold ( like having 3 cars and one set of tires )
Mybe you should change your title to VANDAL.

I think Lee makes a decent mold for the hobby caster but for full on production like you are doing, hard to beat iron or melonite molds. Then again, for the cost of a 4cav iron mold, you can buy two or three Lee 6cavs & toss them when they are done.:yesnod:

4 cavity iron molds are nice, but are also harder on your lower back than aluminum 6 cavity molds when used to produce that many bullets.
I agree, buy more 6 cavs and toss when they die.

I agree with yammerschooner on the 6 cavity Lee molds. Use them until they break, than move on to another. I differ though on tossing them as I believe that many times they can be repaired and used for a longer period of time. FS, equipments ment to be used and sometimes that means its used hard or mishandeled. Don't let it get you down.

Both are less than two years old so they should be replaced by Lee for free under warranty. I have to place an order this weekend for some two more of each and have them overnight shipped so I can still work on orders. I'm shifting to the 38 cal orders until these molds arrive. Still haven't gotten my .358 dies back from Magma.

*Seriously*
If LEE dont fix those for ya, Send them to Me and I'll Fix them. I'm a Metal worker by trade so they will be an easy project.

+1 on da drill da sprue plate bolt all da way thru an put a grade 8 in it.
They don't lay flat on da bottom a da blocks anymore, but dat damn bolt don't back out now.
I got a GB mould dat was givin me fits, I wuz gonna drill an tap a set screw, but I jes say screw it an drilled it.
Work like a champ now, got maybe 15k on it witout a problem except my ignerncy

Instead of a gr 8, use a shoulder bolt of the type used with punch press dies. Bigger shank diameter, ground o.d. on the bolt for precise fit, long shank (many sizes avaliable) & enough thread length for a spring washer & a nylock or steel insert locknut.

i'd just send em in on warranty too. good to know you can drop 30-60k of bullets from them though! that's probably more than most will drop in a lifetime.
