Scroll down. I spoke with him on the phone the other day about Star dies. Seems like a cool cat.

Casting 4000 per hour sure is a nice rate. Too bad the price tag is (presumably) up there as well.

He only wants $3K for the machines. IIRC, about $60 for the molds, perhaps $200 for the Stars. Said he will take trades on guns for the machines, too. If I went down to my single shot 20ga (sentiment), G30, Pro Carry, and Guide Gun, I'd only need $250 or so cash to make it up. I might be able to pursuade him to go even up. If I liquidated by guns, they'd be for credit card payments.

Freak--
I'm interested in a Star, any idea when he'll be ready to sell?

Don't know. He said he's selling the Stars after the machines. The sizers also have heaters with them so it's probably more than my previous $200 ballpark.
I'll PM him over there and tell him I got someone interested in a Star. You want the heater? What are you comfortable with $$ ?

I was on castboolits when I found a deal on a fully loaded star lube sizer from Missouri Bullet company that they bought just as a proof of concept for their business model and they were selling it off for 450 with about 700 worth of stuff on it.
I gave them my credit card number and never saw the Star Lubesizer nor did they ever hit my account.

I'll do no more than 70-80% of retail, which is $250, so $175-$200.
Is the heater worth it? I don't know what the heater costs, I'll trust your judgement on that.
Think we could keep it between $250-$300 OTD?

New sizer is $250 with the heated base running $105. So $355 at 70-80% is $266.25-284. I'll try to negotiate $250-275 with him. I'll bid at $250, then $275. Over that I'll run by you.
Heater is a nice option. I run Lar's Red and it needs heat. I started with a heater and will always use a heater. You can go CRB and get an aluminum block and clothes iron. I think Lonnie and a few others use that setup. Works well; to vary heat, control distance between iron and sizer. Let me know if you want the heater or not and I can start the negot'.

Sounds good. Try starting at $175 shipped see what he comes back with, maybe a little low, but still a fair offer (advise if you think it's too low or insulting). I can have him a cashier's check stat, you know I don't screw around.
On second thought, I won't need the heater, I'll jerry rig a resistive element tied to a var. res. (aka a stove element and a dimmer switch) on a piece of steel or aluminum, whatever I have around the shop. I used this approach for my home casting set up.

Dude the iron rocks, it has a built in thermostat. Set it and forget it. If Im doing a lot of bullets Ill actually leave the iron on for several days if the shop is cold. It will sit on 95 degrees like that.

Plus you can always use it to iron out any little wrinkles in the lead. :wink5:

Ran 3500 through mine today.
I sure do love that iron. Fine tune temp by moving closer or farther from the machine.
You are the man Adam!

Yup, I'll put this out there in the open. Rugerfan58 had some problem with him. Rugerfan58 is on GT, so to get details PM him over there. Use caution with Gunwhoreder in dealing with him I guess.
