I was thinking it might be a good idea to put together some tips for new reloaders starting with the LNL.
I'll start:
You'll need the following to start reloading:
Buy two packs of 10 bushings. It will cost you about $60, but be well worth it. Once you get the die in the bushing adjusted, you'll never have to adjust it again when you change calibers. Hornady die boxes will store dies with the bushing attached.
Powder Through Expander (handgun)
Shell plates
Dies
I don't use primer tubes. I recommend you hunt down a Vibra-Prime if any are still available. If you cannot find one, I would say 10 large and 10 small.
Grease (see below)
Degreaser (see below)
Standard Hex Keys. All the fasteners on the press are Hex.
(2) 7/16" x 2" Bolts
(2) 7/16" fender washers
(2) 7/16" lock washers
(2) Nuts or Nylocks
(Try the local hardware store).
When you get the press, make sure you degrease the powder measure. Use mineral spirits, brake and parts cleaner, etc. Relube with a DRY teflon lube or graphite.
Also, if you don't have a grease gun, you'll need one. The press has Zerk fittings; I run mine with Mobil 1.
Here's my set up:

Powder Through Expander (Bell)

Seat
Crimp
I highly recommend a Lee Factory Crimp die (FCD ) in the last station or a Redding Taper Crimp die (TCD) if you're running cast lead, regardless of whose dies you're running. The ejector will have to be fit to clear the FCD/TCD. I would NOT seat and crimp in the same station.
Some folks have reported problems loading .45 with the #1 shell plate (for .45, .308, .30-06, 8mm Mauser, etc.) If do you call Hornady and ask for the non cataloged .45 plate, it will solve any issues. When you call Hornady, you'll want tech support (Bob Palmer). The women is sales will try and sell you parts to solve your problem. Hornady's warranty is like Dillon's, no BS, you don't need to buy replacement parts. I've had a couple of issues and they sent parts without any questions asked.
I recommend lubing pistol cases, it does make the press run smoother, especially in a tapered case like 9mm. Hornady One Shot is good or you can make your own using Lanolin and 99 percent ISO alcohol in a spray bottle.
I've found Redding sizing wax to work excellent for rifle cases.
Buy a couple extra case retaining springs, if one breaks the press is out of service. Some folks use a large O ring in place of the spring, claim it holds up better.
Try www.midsouthshooterssupply.com (http://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/) for parts, they're cheaper than Midway and Cabelas (shipping is cheaper too).
