I have a Rock River "Entry Tact" model...like it alot. Real tight. I'm also thinking about another AR, Want to get me another lower and later possibly a Gas piston upper...Does anybody know if a 7.62X39 upper will work with a standard lower (I know probaly a stupid question) Does anyone make a .45acp or 10mm upper?

I've been wondering about the comparative merits between going .223 compared to 7.62. I guess it's cheaper to load .223, they both make holes in things. P99 will probably be along to tell me not to get the "varmint" round :)

That Rock River Entry Tact looks good. Don't think I can have an adjustable stock here in CT. I have to look up the state assault weapon definitions again.

Anvil that .50 Beowulf must shoot like a M79 grenade launcher, that was a long time ago, does the Army still use them ?
Cohutt, what is that? Did you build it or does it come that way?

mine is a RR receiver i bought for $89 back in 2002 before they got all popular, built out with various parts kits including a RR match trigger. Barrel is a Wilson 24" stainless fluted bull, 1x9 twist.
Harris bipod, turner synth sling, some palmrest grip i found. The "camo" is removable/reusable tape i saw at the Brigade Quartermasters store in Kennesaw GA.
Scope is a cheaper 4x12 Leupold, considering an upgrade

I have a few ARs and use them coyotes.
I have converted a few 98 Mausers to .223 and they get shot.
But my favorite .223s have been the Ruger #1s with stock barrels.
These can be had for the cost of an AR.

Just getting familiar with the forums available here so this post is somewhat similar to what I have posted on the General Reloading forum.
I have just purchased an AR 223 lower from LMW and will get it after my CA wait period is over. Looking now for an upper and what I will need to also get the dies and stuff for reload reloading 223.
I am not in a hurry so I am looking around for what I need for an upper. Will use the rifle for target shooting only as that is my enjoyment with my .40 and .45 pistols now. I will be hanging out in this and the reloading forums to zero in on what I need for AR 223 reloading and maintenance tools.

I just purchased an Anvil Arms lower and am going to buy Del-Ton lower. I'm thinking of going with a mid length.
I'm going to attempt to reload 223 on my Loadmaster...we'll see how that goes.

I bought a Colt AR ~20 years ago, and have never had a problem with it.
Just food for thought.
i've got several but only shoot the 9mm. i have:
RR tactical entry
RR 20" flat top varmiter
RR flat top
colt HBMT
s&W m&p15
RR 9mm flat top
i got scared thinking the AWB will come back and got several. been thinking about buying a couple of stripped receivers too. i wouldn't mind making the 9mm a SBR but so far i've not wanted to fool with the paper work.

I have an RRA Elite CAR A4 (middy) that I recently upgraded. It was my 300yd plinker when it looked like this.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v726/Coloradoglocker/100_0119.jpg
http://www.glockpost.com/forums/%5BIMG%5Dhttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v726/Coloradoglocker/100_0119.jpg%5B/IMG%5DI had Steve at ADCO reprofile the barrel to a lightweight, shorten it to 14.7", and pin on the A2 flash hider. Then I replaced the CAR stock with a CTR and switched out the scope/BUIS combination for a EOTech/BUIS. The result is an AR that weighs 2½ lbs less, is more maneuverable, and better balanced. It is still surprisingly very accurate and I am good with it out to about 200 yds.

And best of all, it gives me an excuse to buy a new 20" precision AR!!

Guess I better start making the rounds to the gun shops.

Hey Al-
I'm not sure were you are located.
Newington gun exchange is getting a shipment of Stags in on Monday of next week.
They are selling for $109. Great lowers. Fit and finish were great. Also good shop to deal with.
Also, Hoffman's in Newington have them. Around the same price I think. But service ain't their strong suit....
Going to NGE Tuesday. If you want. I'll give you a heads up if they do come in.:cheers2:

Coincidence that you said that! I was just on the phone with both of them yesterday and I decided that I'm going with the Stag to do my part to stimulate the local economy :) I bought my G23 at NGE and my Rugers at Hoffmans. I'm down southwest near Bridgeport so it's a ride but it's worth it.

I think you won't be done buying guns after that!
AR is definitely the way to go. I went with a local guy (Gunsmoke Enterprise) for my first AR, basic A3 setup, decent accuracy. Then I went with a DPMS LRT-SASS for my 308 variant, it's super tacticool Evil Black Rifle.
Next I have an Anvil Arms lower that I had engraved with the Calico Jack Logo and my initials. I plan to build that one into a varminter or precision rifle.
I had a hard decision on whether I wanted a wonder caliber for my other AR, but I decided to go 308 and then maybe do another .223.
I plan to load 223, 308 and 30-06 soon, so I'll report back on what kind of accuracy I get.
This page should have a picture of the AR lower I mentioned:

That's for sure. I've been spending a lot of time on AR15.com and seeing what's for sale on GunsAmerica, GunBroker etc. Too much information is as bad as not enough in some ways :)
Being payday, I almost made the detour to the gun shop after work today to get the parts to build a lower. Maybe next week, then I'll have the cash to buy the stock too.

Can I play?
The black one is a Bushmaster Varmiter, the camo one is a Bushmaster XM15-E2S, what ever that means. The trigger from the E2S was replaced with a Jade, also a semi bird cage flash suppresser was installed after the end of the ban. The Varmiter came with the Bushmaster precision trigger, at 4.5#’s it did not take long to put the Jade in it, and the B.M. precision in the E2S. Both have Leopold glass.
Once I get the shooting at rocks load figured out I’ll put the carrying handle back on the E2S and, shot it with open sights.
